PASTOR’S CORNERThe first followers of Jesus, namely theApostles, weren’t strong and courageousas they betrayed, denied and desertedJesus. After his death, they hid themselvesaway in fear and then what happens tothem is the strangest thing! The house

shakes with the sound of a mighty wind and the sight of fire!These frightened frail men and women get transformed. Theyare given new hope, new heart and new purpose through thedescent of the Holy Spirit. Thus, their fear and silence arereplaced by courage and conviction. They leave their hidingplaces and make their way into the streets and proclaim theGood News - the Resurrection - and continue the mission ofJesus. They become new people with a new message engagingthe world with a clear new mandate!Our situation today is no different. As we are filled with the HolySpirit through our baptism and confirmation, we are also calledto continue the mission of Jesus, i.e., to look at the broken worldwith the perspective of Jesus. For, a Spirit-filled person looks atthe world with a new perspective. St Oscar Romero once said,“The Spirit makes all things new; we are the ones who grow oldand want to keep everything to our aged way of doingthings...the Spirit is always young.” As Jesus transformed hisworld, we are also called to look at things anew with the help ofthe Spirit and proclaim the Kingdom of God with courage so thatwe too become agents of social change like him.

Después de su muerte, se escondieron con miedo y luegolo que les pasa es lo más extraño! La casa tiembla con el sonidode un viento poderoso y la vista del fuego! Estos hombres ymujeres frágiles asustados se transforman. Se les da una nuevaesperanza, nuevo corazón y nuevo propósitoA través del descenso del Espiritu Santo. Por lo tanto, su miedo

y silencio son reemplazados por el valor y la convicción. Dejansus escondites y se salen a las calles a proclamar la Buena Nueva– la Resurrección – y continúan la misión de Jesús. Se conviertenen gente nueva con un nuevo mensaje que involucre al mundocon un nuevo mandato claro! Nuestra situacion de hoy, no esdiferente. Al estar llenos del Espiritu Santo a traves de nuestrobautismo y confirmacion, Tambien estamos llamados a continuarla mision de jesus, es decir, a mirar el mundo con una nuevaperspectiva de Jesús, es decir a mirar el mundo roto con laperspectiva de Jesus. Porque, una persona llena de Espiritu miraal mundo con una nueva perspectiva. San Oscar Romero dijo unavez: El Espiritu hace todas las cosas nuevas; somos los queenvejecemos y queremos mantener todo a nuestra formaenvejecida de hacer las cosas… el Espiritu siempre es joven”“Como Jesus transformó al mundo, tambien estamos llamados amirar las cosas de nuevo con la ayuda del Espíritu y a proclamarel Reino de Dios con valor para que nosotros Tambien nosconvirtamos en agentes del cambio social como el.

Pentecost Sunday “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” 1 CORINTHIANS 12:7 To receive the gift of the Holy Spirit you must open your heart and invite Him in! Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts, words and actions every day! Be grateful for all the gifts God has given you! Regardless of our individual circumstances, God has given all of us many blessings. What we do with those gifts is our gift back to God! By generously sharing everything we have and everything we are, we become more “God- centered” and “less self-centered” and our lives truly reflect God’s light, love and mercy. Domingo de Pentecostés "A cada uno se ha dado la manifestación del Espíritu para el bien común." 1 CORINTHIANS 12:7 Para recibir el don del Espíritu Santo debes abrir tu corazón e invitarlo a entrar! ¡Pídele al Espíritu Santo que guíe tus pensamientos, palabras y acciones todos los días! ¡Sé agradecido por todos los dones que Dios te ha dado! Sin tomar en cuenta nuestras circunstancias individuales, Dios nos ha dado muchas bendiciones a todos. ¡Lo que hacemos con esos dones es nuestro don a Dios! Al compartir generosamente todo lo que tenemos y todo lo que somos, nos volvemos más "centrados en Dios" y menos "egocéntricos" y nuestra vida refleja verdaderamente la luz, el amor y la misericordia de Dios.

• 1st Communion Masses will be held on the Feast of Corpus Christi, Sunday, June 14th at 10:00AM in English, and 12:00PM in Spanish. Rehearsal will be Saturday, June 13th, 10:00AM.

• Please pray for all our Confirmandi and First Communicants as they journey closer to our Lord Jesus!

Next week, our parish will take up a collection for the Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa. While the Church in Africa is growing, many still lack access to basic resources as well as pastoral care. Many suffer due to high rates of poverty and unemployment, illiteracy and poor education. The fund supports pastoral projects that strengthen communities in their faith and foster lasting peace and reconciliation in a continent often marked by division and tension. POPE FRANCIS HOMILY ON DIVINE MERCY

You may object: “But I keep falling!” the Lord knows this, and he is always ready to raise you up. He does not want us to keep thinking about our failings; rather, he wants us to look to him. For when we fall, he sees children needing to be put back on their feet; in our failings he sees children in need of his merciful love. Today, in this church that became a shrine of mercy in Rome, and on this Sunday that Saint John Paul II dedicated to Divine Mercy twenty years ago, we confidently welcome this message. Jesus said to Saint Faustina” “I am love and mercy itself; There is no human misery that could measure up to my mercy” (Diary, 14 September 1937). At one time, the Saint, with satisfaction, told Jesus that she had offered him all of her life and all that she had. But Jesus’ answer stunned her: “You have not offered me the things is truly yours”. What had that holy nun kept for herself? Jesus said to her with kindness: “My daughter, give me your failings” (10 October 1937). We too can ask ourselves: Have I given my failings to the Lord?” Have I let him see me fall so that he can rise me up?” Or is there something I still keep inside me? A sin, a regret from the past, a wound that I have inside, a grudge against someone, and idea about a particular person….The Lord waits for us to offer him our failings so that he can help us experience his mercy. Y tú puedes objetar: “Pero yo sigo siempre cayendo!” El Señor lo sabe y siempre esta dispuesto a levantarnos. Él no quiere que pensemos continuamente en nuestras caidad, sino que lo miremos a El, que en nuestras caidas ve a los hijos a los que tiene que levanter y en nuestras miserias ve a lo hijos a los que tiene que amar con misericordia. Hoy, en esta Iglesia que se ha convertido en santuario de la misericordia en Roma, en el Domingo que veinte años atrás San Juan Pablo II dedico a la Divina Misericordia, acojamos con confianza este mensaje. Jesus le dijo a santa Faustina: “Yo soy el amor y la misericordia misma; no existe miseria que pueda medirse con mi misericordia” (Diario, 14 de septiembre 1937). En otra ocasión, la santa le dijo a Jesús, con satisfacción, que le habia ofrecido toda su vida, todo realmente lo que tenia. Pero la respuesta de Jesúa la desconserto: “Hija, mia no has ofrecido lo que es realmente tuyo” Que cosa habia retenido para sí aquella santa religiosa? Jesús le dijo amablemente: “Hija, dame tu miseria” (10 Octubre 1937). Tambien nosotros Podemos preguntarnos: “Le he entregado mi miseria al Señor?” Le he mostrado mis caidas para que me levante?” O hay algo que todavia me guardo dentro? Un pecado, un remordimiento del pasado, una herida en mi interior, un rencor hacia alguien, una idea sobre una persona determinada… El Señor espera que le presentemos nuestras miserias, para hacernos descubrir su misericordia.
