When the equipment is installed in a cabinet or ona shelf, make sure that it has sufficient space on

all sides to allow for ventilation (10 cm (3-15/16")or more on both sides, on top and at the rear).Do not block the ventilation holes.

("Program") ON YOUR PC.The right to use the Program is granted by VictorCompany of Japan, Limited ("JVC") to You onlyon the condition that You agree to the following.Should You not agree to the terms hereof, Youmay not install or use the Program. HOWEVER,INSTALLING OR USING THE PROGRAMINDICATES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THESETERMS AND CONDITIONS.

1 COPYRIGHT; OWNERSHIPYou acknowledge that all copyrights and otherintellectual property rights in the Program areowned by JVC and its licensor, and remainvested in JVC and such licensor. How to use the Touch Sensor

After the menu is displayed on the LCDmonitor:

O Slide your finger up and down on thesensor.

@ Select [SET]. (Touch OK.)

Touch the sensors with your finger. The

sensors do not function if you touch themwith your fingernail or with gloves on.

[]To select an on-screen button appearingon the left side, touch the portion of thesensor next to the on-screen button.

_lTo select an on-screen button appearing atthe bottom of the screen, touch the buttonsunderneath them.

Make a backup of important recorded dataJVC will not be responsible for any lost data.It is recommended to copy your importantrecorded data to a disc or other recordingmedia for storage. (_-_p. 35)

Make a trial recordingBefore the actual recording of importantdata, make a trial recording and play backthe recorded data to check that the video

and sound have been recorded correctly. Werecommend you to use the same recordingmedia when performing both the trial recordingand the actual recording.

Reset the camcorder if it does not operatecorrectlyClose the LCD monitor and remove the powersupply (battery pack or AC adapter) from thecamcorder, then reattach it.

Precautions on handling batteries• Be sure to use the JVC BN-VF808U/

VF815U/VF823U battery packs. This productincludes patented and other proprietarytechnology and is made to be used with theJVC battery and not with other batteries.JVC cannot guarantee safety orperformance of this product when it isoperated by other batteries

• If the camcorder is subjected to electrostaticdischarge, turn off the power before using itagain.

Managing Files

Do not remove the recording medium (SDcards) or perform any other operation (such

as turning off the power) while accessing files.Also, be sure to use the provided AC adapter,

as the data on the recording medium may be

corrupted if the battery becomes exhaustedduring operation. If the data on the recordingmedium becomes corrupted, format the

recording medium to use the medium again.

You can capture the desired scene from arecorded video, and store it as a still image.

Preparation:• Select NW mode.

• Select the playback mode.

Press SNAPSHOT when playback ispaused.

• Captured still images are stored at a

resolution of 1920 x 1080. The image canbe elongated in the horizontal or vertical

directions depending on the picture qualityof the source video file.

• The continuous shooting function cannot beused to capture images.

• You cannot capture video during playback.

• Protected files cannot be deleted. To delete

them, release the protection first.

• Once files are deleted, they cannot berestored. Check files before deleting.

The following phenomena are notmalfunctions.

• The camcorder heats up when it is used fora long time.

• The battery heats up during charging.• When playing back a video, the image stops

momentarily or the sound is interrupted atjunctions between scenes.

• LCD monitor momentarily become red orblack when sunlight is recorded.

• Black spots, or red, green, or blue spotsappear on the LCD monitor.(The LCD monitor contains 99.99% effectivepixels, but 0.01% of fewer pixels may beineffective.)

• Check that the SD card is facing the right direction.

• Connect the AC adapter correctly.• Recharge the battery.

• SD card is full. Delete unnecessary files or replace the SD card.

• Insert a commercially available SD card, and set each of the[VIDEO SLOT SELECTION] and [IMAGE SLOT SELECTION] to[SLOT A] or [SLOT B].

• Recording stops automatically after 12 hours of non-stoprecording. To ensure continuous recording, set [AUTO SWITCHREC MEDIA] to [ON] before you start recording.

• Such a phenomenon occurs when shooting a subjectilluminated by bright light. This is not a malfunction.

• Be sure to use JVC battery packs.

• Replace the SD card. (Files recorded with other devices thatsupport AVCHD cannot be played back on this camcorder.)

• Select [OK] and select [YES] to perform formatting.

• Check the operating procedure, and perform once again.• Turn off the camcorder, and turn it on again.

Cleaning

• Remove and re-insert the SD card. (MultiMediaCard cannotbe used.)

• Remove any dirt from the SD card terminals.• Insert the SD card before switching the power on.

• Use the AC Adapter as power supply.

• Turn on the power of the connected USB device.• Connect the AC adapter to the BD/DVD burner.

• Replace the disc of the BD/DVD burner with another disc.

• Replace the disc of the BD/DVD burner with another disc.

• Slide the mode switch to select the desired mode (_ or _).

• Select [OK] to restore.

• Register events to the files before you start recording.

eTurn the face detection mode on before you perform recordingor snapshot.

Before cleaning, turn off the camcorder and remove the battery pack and AC adapter.

To clean the carncorder

Wipe the camcorder gently with a soft cloth. If the camcorder is particularly dirty, dip the cloth

into diluted mild soap and wring it out well. After wiping with the wet cloth, wipe again with adry cloth.

Wipe the monitor gently with a soft cloth. Be careful not to damage the monitor.

m To clean the lens

Wipe gently with lens cleaning paper.
