We had a very exciting finish to last term, visiting Collingullie Public School for a Creative Arts and Public Speaking Day. The activities were well planned and enjoyed by all. Congratulations to our public speaking representatives; Poppy, Shaun and Sian who spoke clearly and confidently. These students should feel proud of themselves as they achieved something adults have rated as the most stressful activity, speaking in front of an audience, and this was a large audience. Well done. The day finished with an energetic Zumba session. Thank you to Mrs Dunn, Principal, Collingullie School for her organisation. Welcome to Megan Eulenstein who is very excited to be teaching K/1 until the end of the year. Ms Eulenstein has come to know the students through teaching the class at different times during the first two terms. Ms van Dijk has arrived safely in Holland and is with her family. Keep up with her adventures through our Wiki. There are already photos on this site for you to enjoy. Mrs McTavish is also in Europe with her sister and mother, she is enjoying sightseeing and experiencing other cultures. We will be welcoming her back to school on August 6. At our Staff Development Day we updated our emergency care and resuscitation certification and reviewed the school plan. As part of this review we will be offering a range of workshops to parents prior to our assemblies this term to inform about the programs we have in the school in a fun and hands on manner. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to find out about the activities your children participate in to enhance their learning. The first workshop will be run by Mrs Driscoll in the library at 2:00pm on Friday 27th July, just prior to our normal school assembly and will highlight the Accelerated Literacy program and spelling. We hope you enjoyed sharing your child’s portfolio over the holidays. So that we can begin putting work samples in ready for the end of the year, would you please return these to school as soon as possible. Education Week begins on Monday 30 July. We will participating in the celebrations at the Marketplace by having boards displaying the educational opportunities and activities at Kapooka Public School. 4/5/6 will be dancing at 11:05am on Wednesday 1st August and our chess team will be competing in the Cargill Chess Challenge. Please take the time to look at our board during the week and attend any of the activities being offered. To complete our celebration of education our Dance Concert is being held at the Kapooka Cinema on Thursday 2nd August beginning at 6.30pm. The students will showcase the dances they have learnt last term and the finalists of ‘Kapooka Has Talent’ will perform. Change of day. The next P & C meeting for this term will be held on a Thursday morning at 9:30am. Date to be advised. We are still varying the days and times for these meetings to ensure as many people as possible are able to attend and have input into supporting the school. I am looking forward to seeing you at this meeting. Lyn
