Built on existing successful donor partnerships/relations. Developed a unique crossborder program. Built on successful lessons learnt from other LWF country programs like the TCRS -Tanzania and Nepal. A different mind set (relief vs development) (empowerment vs aid)

Successful implementation of Phase 1 resulting in a positive evaluation which created further donor interest.

Not easy!!! The main potential local based donors are:

UNHCR,UNDP, FAO, EU, USAID and Embassies.

It is not easy to secure funding from local based donors:

They have existing links with operational partners.

We are not a francophone NGO. No large Lutheran presence (which provoke LWF

related agencies interests)

1) Evolve or die!!! (renewal process) (maybe it is time to specialize, sector or type of interventions)

a)Retool for current trends. (reaffirming steps already taken by LWF/DWS but we must go further!!)

b) Consolidate. Close the none viable programmes!! Better to do a few good jobs than to do many poorly.

c) Invest. Must spend money to make money! (Budget

development funds)
