The Consulate General of France in Boston would like to thank the many citizenswho kindly sent flowers as well as words of support and condolences in responseto the recent attacks against the newspaper Charlie Hebdo and a koshersupermarket in Paris. We are deeply touched by this wave of solidarity andfriendship towards our country. These attacks not only struck a newspaper andthe Jewish community, but freedom of speech and democracy as a whole.Together, in France and within the international community, we will stand unitedagainst violence and terrorism. In these sad times, we would like to thank eachand every one of you for your unfailing support.

The Cultural Service of the Consulate General of France in Boston invites allteachers of French in New England to attend Gilberte Furstenberg's workshop,which will tour throughout the region from February to April 2015.
Mrs. Furstenberg, Senior Lecturer Emerita at MIT's Global Studies andLanguages Department, will lead a workshop on intercultural exchanges in theclassroom, aiming to provide teachers with the theoretical and technicaltools necessary to teach children about French culture, and more importantlythe aspects of culture which are harder to teach, such as attitudes, behaviors,values and mindsets in today's France, while avoiding stereotypes.
Only 30 places are available for each workshop, so register now!

Be part of a fun and exciting contest unlike any other in the United States!
"Le Vent dans les Voiles de l’Hermione" is a contest organized by the Cultural
and Educational Services of the Consulate General of France in Boston for thearrival of the frigate l’Hermione (Lafayette’s ship when he sailed to America in1780) in Boston on July 11, 2015 and the United Nation’s upcoming ClimateChange Conference in Paris in December 2015. Students of French are invited tobuild an eco-friendly sail that illustrates the history of the Hermione andpromotes environmental awareness.
Your class’s sail must be submitted by March 15, 2015. The results of thecontest will be disclosed on March 27, 2015, during the “Matinée de laFrancophonie”.

A Stage Pédagogique de Courte Durée - SPCD - isa training grant aimed at helping teachers perfecttheir skills in methodologies for teaching Frenchlanguage and culture. The SPCD grants are intendedfor teachers of French as a foreign language whoteach in American elementary or secondary schools.
This year's SPCD will take place from June 29 toJuly 10 in Vichy, France. All travel, housing,training and food costs are covered by the grant.Apply by February 18, 2015!
