Best Natural Destinations to Discover in Africa

Going on a Uganda gorilla safaris is a great adventure for sure. There are only a few places that

are left in the African continent that are untouched my civilization. It is the best to spot these

gorillas in their natural habitats and close to nature. It is said that those people who have had the

chance to stare into the eyes of a silver back gorilla are very lucky. There are only a few places

left in Africa that have gorilla safaris functioning. These include Parc National des Virunga in

Congo, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda and Parc National des Volcans in

Rwanda. Uganda gorilla safaris have been famous since years and millions of tourists visit it

every year.

You need to be very fit in order to track a mountain gorilla. The walk is at a very high, steep

slope and thus you need to be in the pink of your health to go through the strenuous walk to spot

a gorilla. A trek usually can last from about 2 hours to 9 hours. So carry very comfortable

walking shoes and plenty of water to drink. Gorillas are known to cover large distance during the

night times so your guide needs to be very experienced so that he can trace their route and take

you to them.

Once you have reached the destination you will get about an hour’s time to spend with the

animals. Make the most of it as you will never get the chance again. Since Africa is a rainforest,

rainfall can occur at any time without a warning it is best that you carry waterproof clothing and

a spare pair of clothes so that even if it rains it does not bother you much.

The safaris usually have provision for food for the entire group but it would be wise if you carry

a few light snacks. Be sure to get all your injections against dengue, malaria and yellow fever,

because you never know what you may be exposed to in the jungle. One of the most important

piece of advice that I would love to give travelers while interacting with the gorillas is never ever

do the mistake of staring directly into their eyes as they tend to get aggressive.

Be gentle and do not make any sudden movements. Click a lot of photographs to capture that

moment however do not forget to turn off the flash of the camera since flash photography is

prohibited in Africa.
