unique species from all over the world
always sustainably sourced & responsibly harvested
Satinwood (East Indian) is considered difficult to work because of its high density & interlocked grain. We recommend sharpening and changing your blades often, as Satinwood has a dulling effect on tools.
• Wear a mask when sanding.
• Hold wood firmly when working to prevent chattering.
• Preboring is recommended – nail-holding & screw-holding properties are rated as good.
• Satinwood responds very well to stain and finish treatments.

Wood from across the world shines in this issue – Australian Blackwood, Koa, Cocobolo, Doussie, Fumed Eucalyptus, and Satinwood – while several other imported woods in our inventory are definitely worth an honorable mention: Fumed European Oak (4/4 boules), Keyaki (Japan) (4/4 & 8/4 square edge, live edge slabs), and Movingui (Africa) (8/4 square edge). In addition to the rest of our lumber inventory, our imported species listed above are always sustainably sourced and responsibly harvested; we have a strong commitment to the preservation and protection of forests. The majority of our lumber comes from the same forests as our trees for veneer production, ensuring peace of mind when purchasing imported species, as well as providing color and grain harmony between veneer and solid surfaces. We carry high quality lumber in square edge and boule form, live edge table top slabs, carving pieces, reclaimed wood and other treasures for woodworking hobbyists.
