In the historic Salone d’Onore of the Castello del Valentino, more than 100 Members, in spite of the Turin Marathon, participated in the Session dedicated to the Round Table. There was a warm and friendly, truly international, atmosphere

… AND THE THIRD DAY….

First, an appreciation of the Inner Wheel. The "IW WOMEN", through their Association, are polished and fully present on the central issues involving the world and Europe. The economic crisis is global, epochal change marks, has generational implications, social and territorial deeper than we now can not perceive. The crisis, however, is in turn leading to an acceleration in terms of competitiveness and in terms of technological innovation, which - and this is something new at least for Italy - is having repercussions increasingly evident in the ways of designing and constructing more more attentive to the "sustainability", which is the focus of training in my faculty….

On the request of the International President Catherine Refabert, the programme of events was changed. She had wanted to intervene at the beginning in order to formulate for Members in the audience a series of questions on the Future of the Inner Wheel "FUTURE IN QUESTIONS" and on the necessary changes not only to survive, to make the Inner Wheel more visible where, unfortunately it is still invisible, And, Expansion is condicio sine qua non for survival, as well as other changes which point THE WAY FORWARD, one of the seminars which could attend the April Convention in Istanbul. Survival is the word, recurring in the President's words, with the awareness of the necessity of the turning point, also to assign to Inner Wheel a new BRAND, new CONTENT; an even more MEANINGFUL INCISIVE AND MODERN ROLE, where the outcomes of the Convention could decree the turning point also at the legislative level, not only the cultural one, without however undermining the Inner Wheel tradition.

• Can we stay these invisible IIW women Gabriella Adami spoke about?

• Can we stay silent and passive when everywhere in our world the role, the status, the rights, the safety , of women are one of the main priorities?

• When these problems are the main concerns of the younger generation, the one we need to «refresh the blood» of IIW?

• Can we stay silent in Inner Wheel as mothers , grand mothers, when 18.000 children die everyday of hunger? ( UN informations)

• Can we be passive when the society is destroying her environment?

• Can’t we contribute a bit to save our every day environment?

• Is a greener, a cleaner planet somethnig we don’t care about?

• Our values are generosity, compassion, mutual aid, how can we be as an Inner Wheel member not concerned by a better world for our children, for all the children?

THE FUTURE IN QUESTIONSCAN WE…?

• Can we remain indifferent? This is the keynote question!It emerges from these motivational questions on clearly defined topics. Hence, then, many other questions arise regarding:

• What specifically do? How? But the answers are in Catherine Refabert program. It includes the way forward, from the large projects to the best practices, from the new brand to the media, from communication to training, from internal to external expansion, from legislative reform to the redefinition of roles, and more and more.

The recent past


“Today we cannot just only appreciate the results, thanks to the efforts of many friends who believed in “WOMEN FOR EUROPE – THE ROLE OF INNER WHEEL”, but also imagine to reach the goal we cherished in 2008. The dream of having an our own role as female association, worldwide present, in the forum of cultures which will be held in Naples in 2013. It will be a further opportunity, five years and many European events after in which we could know each other better, for considering together the goals reached as European female citizens and Inner Wheel women.

In the workshops, reproducing the model activated in Naples, important issues were dealt with.They have been again a space devoted to Inner Wheel Members in order to actively involve them through the production of interactive knowledge in subjects concerning:

• A) FAMILY, 1.Gender Inequality, 2. Roles of women, 3. Care for the elders

• B) JOB, 1. The position of women from past to the present in the economics, 2. Women trafficking, 3. Glass ceiling

• C) CULTURE AND SOCIETY, 1. Women’s contribution to the cultural identity; 2. Position and status of women in the arts, 3. Similarities and differences of the culture of your country and the EU.
