We are learning to answer literal and inferential questions about a text. We are learning to spell words that sound similar but are spelt differently. We are learning to create a set of instructions to give advice to the reader. We are learning to use bossy verbs and time connectives to give instructions. Task: Reading Comprehension & Listening and Talking Reading Challenge Read for enjoyment for at least 20 minutes each day Read - “Roald Dahl” and then answer the comprehension questions in your ‘work-from- home’ jotter or use the worksheet provided. Spicy: Read: The ‘Big Moment’ Reading Challenge Card Make inferences from the text. Explain and justify inferences with evidence from the text. We have shared sentence starters to get you started this week. Homophones are two or more words which have the same pronunciation but different meaning, origins or spelling. Use a dictionary to compare and contrast the meaning of each homophone. Discus these with a family member/ guardian and record these in your jotter. Task: Instructional Writing This week we will create a set of instructions for making a sandwich . Instructions should be: written in the present tense Use imperative (bossy) verbs telling the reader how to do something: put, place, leave, push, pull, cut, clean Use time connectives to order your instructions: first, then, next, now, finally Use clear descriptions. Plan each step by creating a sandwich of your own at home. You may want to ask a parent or sibling to help. Remember to include any resources you will need to carry out this task, for example bread, butter etc. Record your instructions using the template or in your ‘working from home’ jotter. Extension: Have a family member follow your instructions to see if they can successfully create your sandwich. Self-assess your work with a traffic light and a comment. We are learning to improve our mental recall of table facts. We are learning to use division when solving problems. We are learning to understand that division can be set out in 2 different ways. We are learning to use long division, with and without remainders, to find the answer to division calculations. P4 have been completing many activities online as we study from home. We would like you to share any useful/interesting websites that you have used while learning at home.
