I love VBS week and I am so thank- ful for the great work that our VBS planning team and VBS staff did to offer a wonderful week for our children. As the new pastor, it was a blessing to wander the halls and visit with children and teachers. It was a gift to share cow-themed cupcakes with first graders* and a privilege to lead the group as they recited the pledges - one thing that never seems to change about VBS! I am deeply grateful for all who worked to make Vacation Bible School a great week for our children and the children of our community. The 15 hours of care and Christian Education that we are able to offer during this week are vital to the spiritual growth of our children and therefore the future of our church. So, for one last time, thank you to everyone who offered something to Vacation Bible School. I hope that as we progress through the year again, your VBS muscles will re- cover and a few months from now, the itch to plan and contribute to this ministry will come back so we can do it all again next summer. Just to be clear, I only shared cakes with one class, though, I am sure I would have enjoyed a seat at the head of every group’s snack table. Maybe next year?

Forecaster of

OXFORD BAPTIST CHURCH Oxford, North Carolina August 2, 2013

This week, the halls of our building

were quiet.

The kitchen is mostly free of

sweets.

The glue and glitter have been

extracted from the carpet.

The rec supplies are back in the

closet.

Vacation Bible School is in our rear-

view mirror.

If you ask most of the staff, they are

pleased by its completion. VBS is

exhausting, but, given an appropri-

ate amount of time, I hope we all

will prepare to re-enlist for next year

because, from my perspective, VBS

2013 was fantastic!

I love VBS week and I am so thank-

ful for the great work that our VBS

planning team and VBS staff did to

offer a wonderful week for our

children.

As the new pastor, it was a blessing

to wander the halls and visit with

children and teachers. It was a gift

to share cow-themed cupcakes with

first graders* and a privilege to lead

the group as they recited the

pledges - one thing that never

seems to change about VBS!

I am deeply grateful for all who

worked to make Vacation Bible

School a great week for our children

and the children of our community.

The 15 hours of care and Christian

Education that we are able to offer

during this week are vital to the

spiritual growth of our children and

therefore the future of our church.

So, for one last time, thank you to

everyone who offered something to

Vacation Bible School. I hope that

as we progress through the year

again, your VBS muscles will re-

cover and a few months from now,

the itch to plan and contribute to

this ministry will come back so we

can do it all again next summer.

Just to be clear, I only shared

cakes with one class, though, I am

sure I would have enjoyed a seat

at the head of every group’s snack

table. Maybe next year?

Passport made me realize that God is always chasing you to reach out to you and I should reach out to others in return. ~ Megan Radford

During our mission trip to fabulous Chicago, I was able to see homeless men and women coming off the streets to receive help at the Pacific Garden Mission where we served. This was a different experience for me and I learned a lot. I’m glad I could go and help. ~ Kyle Joy

Our mission trip in Chicago was very meaningful to all of us. We saw people who had nothing and no one. This experience made me realize how truly blessed I am and that I should thank God each and every day for the things and people He has blessed me with. ~ Morgan Williams
