Church to Consider Pastor Search Committee’s Recommendation On Sunday, March 17, the Church will hear the recommendation of our Pastor Search Committee that the Reverend Chris Aho be the next pastor of Oxford Baptist Church. The Rever- end Aho (Pastor Chris, as I am already calling him) and his wife, Natalie, will meet and greet the congregation on Saturday afternoon, March 16 in the Family Life Center. Then on Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. he will preach. Immediately after the worship, the Church will be called into conference session to vote on the recommendation (a letter from the Search team has been sent previously to each member ). This will be an historic day for Pastor Chris and for Oxford Baptist Church. It has been about twenty four years since OBC last called a pastor. Much has changed in our church, com- munity, and culture since that time. But one thing which has not changed is the excitement of this day and the belief that God’s Spirit is moving and at work in these changes. Dr. Dewey Hobbs, a mentor to many pastors, including me, once reminded that we know God’s will as “we trust the process.” The process has been thorough, well thought, and Spirit led as the Pastor Search Commit- tee has been at work over almost twenty months to present the person they feel will best pastor OBC. At work also have been the Transition Committee, the Deacons, the Staff , the Congrega- tional Care Team, and all who have labored to attend to so many of the needs of this transitional interim time. Hopefully, many of the accomplish- ments of these committees and others are paving the way for a fruitful tenure of our next pastor. So let us “trust the process,” believ- ing the words of the Apostle Paul that God who has begun in us a good work will see it through to its fruition. I am excited about OBC’s future and the recommendation of Pastor Chris Aho to become the next pastor of OBC! Please pray for him, Natalie, their young son, and our Church as we all trust the process and as we continue to trust God to lead us. Church to Consider Pastor Search

Committee’s Recommendation

On Sunday, March 17, the Church

will hear the recommendation of our

Pastor Search Committee that the

Reverend Chris Aho be the next pastor

of Oxford Baptist Church. The Rever-

end Aho (Pastor Chris, as I am already

calling him) and his wife, Natalie, will

meet and greet the congregation on

Saturday afternoon, March 16 in the

Family Life Center. Then on Sunday

morning at 11:00 a.m. he will preach.

Immediately after the worship, the

Church will be called into conference

session to vote on the recommendation

(a letter from the Search team has been

sent previously to each member ).

This will be an historic day for

Pastor Chris and for Oxford Baptist

Church. It has been about twenty four

years since OBC last called a pastor.

Much has changed in our church, com-

munity, and culture since that time. But

one thing which has not changed is the

excitement of this day and the belief

that God’s Spirit is moving and at work

in these changes.

Dr. Dewey Hobbs, a mentor to

many pastors, including me, once

reminded that we know God’s will as

“we trust the process.” The process

has been thorough, well thought, and

Spirit led as the Pastor Search Commit-

tee has been at work over almost twenty

months to present the person they feel

will best pastor OBC. At work also

have been the Transition Committee,

the Deacons, the Staff , the Congrega-

tional Care Team, and all who have

labored to attend to so many of the

needs of this transitional interim time.

Hopefully, many of the accomplish-

ments of these committees and others

are paving the way for a fruitful tenure

of our next pastor.

So let us “trust the process,” believ-

ing the words of the Apostle Paul that

God who has begun in us a good work

will see it through to its fruition.

I am excited about OBC’s future and

the recommendation of Pastor Chris

Aho to become the next pastor of OBC!

Please pray for him, Natalie, their

young son, and our Church as we all

trust the process and as we continue to

trust God to lead us.

Blessings and Peace,

Dennis Herman, Interim Pastor
