Ongoing Testing

I'm quite intrigued about your 'invitations' to become involved in trying to improve communication with supporters. You may be aware that I'm still quite passionate about litter, dog mess

and fly tipping...also that I'm quite critical of previous attempts by Keep Britain Tidy to stem the annual tides of litter

& detritus that soil our roadsides, coasts and tourist sites. Not sure that you will want such critical 'allies' on board to

help, but I am interested and have many ideas about activities and communication

John Woolmer

I am more than willing to be involved in testing the platform. I am a nurse and I formed Rochdale Environmental Action Group in 2012 in an effort

to change attitudes in Rochdale regarding to prolific littering and flytipping on our streets.

Christine Mathewson

I would be very interested in trialing your new online platform and becoming more involved as my current role involves working within local neighbourhoods on a daily basis as an environmental crime enforcement officer.

What would we do differently?

• Start earlier;

• Involve even more people;

• Try not to work on so many different fronts;

• Involve supporters earlier in the process;

• Manage expectations better;

• Have more time!

14

What did you learn about working in a more open way to do innovation?

• People are willing to share ideas and potential solutions;

• It’s scary at first but you have to stick with it;

• Ideas are everywhere but not everything works;

• Good ideas can be closer to home than you think;

• It builds trust internally;

• It can worry process-driven people.

15

Did you learn anything about giving/volunteering that you didn’t know before?

• People who give time are willing to give more;

• Although some activities seem more valuable than others, care should be taken when allocating value to them;

• Our supporters want more communication and knowledge sharing;

• Online and digital is even more important than we thought;

• Some people would like to be credited for their volunteer work;

• Others want no reward or recognition.
