In order to register online, you MUST have a student account.

> If you are a new student, please click on “Add New Account” and complete the required information.

> If you have previously taken classes, but NEVER registered on-line, you may log on with your e-mail address

that was given to Adult Education and click on “Forgot Password.” Once you have completed the necessary

information, you will receive an email with inputting a new password.

To register for a class: >Look up courses - Review courses by group, location, or instructor.

>Choose courses - Once you have chosen your course, click on the course name. This will provide more

details concerning the course.

>Enroll - Once you have clicked on the course name, click on “Enroll Yourself”

>Finish Registration - Click to review course information and submit your request.

General Information and Adult High School REGISTRATION for General Classes Courses are open to residents and non-residents alike (age 18 and older). Registration can be completed in

one of three ways: online, mail or in-person. You MUST register before attending a class. Registrations are

processed in the order received and are not accepted after the start of a class. Registration confirmations

will not be sent. You will only be notified if an issue is encountered with your registration.

SENIOR CITIZEN Citizens 60 years or older may register for some classes and pay half the tuition fee when minimum

enrollment is met. Registration must be completed by mail or in-person. Senior Citizen discounts are not

available when paying by credit card. When registering, pay half the tuition fee and if minimum enrollment

is not met, you will be contacted to pay the full fee (Initial fee will NOT be refunded). Discounts are NOT

AVAILABLE on English as a Second Language, Business/Computer Software, Financial Awareness,

Horticulture, or Trade & Industry courses.

TUITION FEES Payment is due when you register. Payments may be paid by credit card (Online Only), check (returned

checks are subject to a fee), money orders, or cash (exact change). Please Note: Credit Card payments are

only processed with ONLINE REGISTRATIONS. Information regarding credit card payments can be found on

the Adult Education website.

ADDITIONAL FEES Some classes may require additional fees that are paid the first night of class. Please review the course

descriptions regarding these fees.

REFUNDS A refund is automatic if the class selected has been filled or canceled. Refunds are also given if schedule

changes are made by the Adult Education Office. To receive a refund, please complete the Online Refund

Request Form located on our website. Refunds will be submitted via check and will take up to two weeks for

processing. NO REFUNDS are given after the start of class.

ACADEMIC ADULT CLASSES ADULT HIGH SCHOOL* The Adult High School classes are designed for individuals who need between one (1) and twelve (12) credits

to complete their high school diploma. Students will be assigned independent work through the Credit

General Educational Development Test (GED®)

Earning your GED® credential is just a click away!

The 2014 GED® Test includes the following

content areas (called modules):

Reasoning Through Language Arts

150 Minutes - 51 Items Focus includes determining main ideas, point of

views, meanings of words/phrases and drawing

comparisons between texts. Also included is

editing sentences and recognizing and correcting

grammatical errors. An analytic response to one or

more source texts is also a focus. Mathematical Reasoning 115 Minutes - 46 Items Focus includes rate, ratio, percent, solving

equations, word problems, and

reading/locating information within a table and

coordinate planes. Social Studies 90 Minutes - 35 Items Focus includes democracy and dynamic responses

in societal systems and development of modern

liberties. A writing portion is also of focused. Science 90 Minutes - 34 Items Focus includes energy, human health and

Adult Education Preparatory Class Information*

2015-2016 classes began in August and will

continue through June.

Our General Education Development Preparation

classes are designed to prepare adult students, 18

and older, for the GED® High School Equivalency

exam. Classes are designed to provide basic skills

instruction for adults whose math and reading skills

have been assessed at or below the GED® readiness

level. A placement test is given prior to class

registration to help with proper class placement.

Placement Testing Information The General Assessment of Instructional Needs

(GAIN®) measures the English and math skills of

adults, from basic literacy and numeracy to more

advanced skills taught in secondary schools. The use

of this tool helps measure the education needs and

progress of every person in our program. The

placement test fee is $20.00.

English for English Language Learners Loudoun County Adult Education offers ELL classes to Loudoun County residents who desire to improve

their understanding of the English language. Instruction is given in reading, writing, and speaking. Classes

range from literacy to advanced levels and meet twice a week for 13 weeks. All students MUST attend a

registration/testing session prior to joining the ELL classes. Payment is due when you register and can be

made by cash (exact change only), check, or money order.

Classes start the week of January 25, 2016.

DAYTIME ELL CLASS

Daytime Classes meet at one location twice a week.

The cost of the class is $150.00 (textbook included).

Classes meet either Monday and Wednesday or

Tuesday and Thursday. Your instructor will contact

you after the registration process with the specific
