NYC Charter Schools: 2010-11 Enrollment Trends (Final Estimates)

Of the 125* New York City charter schools enrolling students for 2010-11, 106 (85%) havereported application and seat totals. The New York City Charter School Center estimates thatthese will translate into citywide totals of approximately 54,000applicants for 11,850 seats. This

estimate is based on simple extrapolationsexpanding to cover unreported schools, andretracting to discount for overlapping applications from the same students. The final totaldemand is slightly revised from the earlier estimate of 55,000 applicants for 11,700 seats (basedon 78% reporting).

Approximately one charter school seat is available for every five applicants.
