    Although not a native Clevelander, Michael is known for his

    unshakeable belief in a great future for Cleveland and Cleveland-

    based businesses. The best things in his lifeboth personally and

    professionallyhave happened in Cleveland. Michael is perhaps best

    known for his term with the City of Cleveland as the senior executive

    for technology development, or Tech Czar, where he was responsible

    for the economic development of the technology industries in the

    city. During his tenure as the Tech Czar, Michael was able to recruit thirty-seven tech

    companies into the city of Cleveland, which created many much-needed jobs to the city

    and revenue for other city businesses.

    He is currently the tech columnist for the Plain Dealer and co-host of Cleveland

    Confidential Radio. Michael was recently the regional vice-president for the Cleveland

    operations of Expedient, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvaniabased data collocation and managed

    services company.

    Michael has spoken at numerous national economic development, technology and

    social media events, including NOTACON, Gov 2.5, the Online Marketing Summit and

    the Cool Twitter Conference. He appeared on the Fox News channels John S toes sel Sh ow and

    was included in the Drew Careysupported Reason Foundation documentary titled Reason

    Saves Cleveland.

    Michael earned his MBA from Case Western Reserve University and his bachelors

    degree from Xavier University. He is the author of Lost Cleveland, a short history of some of

    the leading architectural wonders of Cleveland, which was published by The History Press

    in late 2010. He currently lives in Lakewood, Ohio, with his fiance, Nora, and their

    young daughter, Ileana.
