• To compare people/things in English, we either add –er to the end of an adjective or put the words more or less in front of an adjective followed by the word than.

Superlatives

• In English to say that someone or something is “the most” of a group we either add –est to the end of an adjective or put the word most in front of an adjective.

Diego is the shortest boy. Gabriela is the shortest girl.Diego is the most artistic boy. Gabriela is the most artistic girl.

Los superlativos• In Spanish to say that someone or something is “the most” use:

el/la + noun + más + adjective

Diego es el chico más bajo. Gabriela es la chica más baja.Diego es el chico más artistíco. Gabriela es la chica más artistíca.

If you already know the topic, you may omit the noun.

el/la + más + adjective + de todos

El golf es el más aburrido de todos.Los plátanos son las más deliciosas de todas.

• To say that someone or something is “the best” or “the worst” use:

el/la + mejor/peor + noun

Rafael es el mejor artista. Juana es la mejor artista.José es el peor alumno. Mercedes es la peor alumna.

• To say that someone or something is “the best”, “the worst”, or “the most” of a group or category, add the preposition de. Also use de instead of que in front of numbers.

-Nando es el chico más bajo de todos. -Natalia es la chica más baja de todas.-Andrés es el mejor artista de todos -Carmen es la peor atleta de todaslos artistas. las chicas.

- Hay mas de treinta estudiantes en clase.
