MICHEL R. MOORE
United States, graduating high school in Arkansas. He returned to Southern California in 1978 and joined the LAPD in 1981. Moore rose through the ranks of police officer, detective, sergeant and lieutenant, working various patrol, investigative and administrative assignments throughout the City. Until recently, he served as Assistant Chief of the LAPD. At the end of June 2018, he became the 57th chief of the LAPD, succeeding Charlie Beck. During his illustrious career, Moore has been involved with everything from counter-terrorism and the use of force to fiscal, personnel, training and other operations. At his swearing in ceremony, Moore shared his commitment to deepening Angelenos’ trust in the LAPD by creating a department that is accessible, transparent and responsive, while policing with purpose, compassion and partnership.
