Looking through LinkedIn profiles of people in the Animation industry has taught me that the following features help create a professional online profile:

• A respectable display picture.• Clear lists of educational/professional history.• Outside links to personal websites, blogs and show reels.• Lack of informal text. • Making connections with people in relevant areas.

• Communicate with people in a similar profession.• Research thousands of Animation companies.• Find work in the Animation industry.• Check out competition. • Create an online résumé.

Blogs kept by Animation professionals are used as a much more informal way of showcasing yourself online.

The blogs I found were made up of several different kinds of posts:• Sketches/works in progress.• Photographs & anecdotes of daily life/excursions. • Updates on both life and work.• Videos, images and music created by others which inspire the individuals.

• Express yourself.• Share work with anyone.• Attract an online following.• Keep track of your own daily progression.• Receive feedback.
