Celebrating our hugely successful first joint Phoenix and Il-Shim Taekwondo Poomsae Competition.

On Sunday October 14th, Phoenix Taekwondo joined forces with our friends from Il-ShimTaekwondoinLondon,tohostourfirstjointPoomsae(patterns)competition.Theeventwasan

incredibly busy daywith a total of 64 differentcompetitors ranging from beginnerWhite Beltsupto2ndDanBlackBelts,fromouryoungestjuniorsto our adult competitors. The competition was divided intocategories, including individual performance categories by grade,teams and parent/childpairs.Oneofthehighlightsof the afternoon was thePhoenix/Il-Shimmixedpaircategory, randomlypairingone Phoenix and one Il-Shim Taekwondo juniortogether.Through this,wesawthatTaekwondoreallydoes break down barriersand is a universallanguage! The medals ineach category wereextremely hard foughtoverandthereweremanygreat Poomsae performedthat just missed out on amedal.Inall,atotalof127Poomsae were performedand scored using ourcomputerizedsystemthatfollowedthesamecriteriaastheNationalPoomsaeevents.Intotal45Gold,SilverandBronzemedalswerewonbut every other competitor received their own participation medalreflecting the courage and determination required to stand up andperforminfrontofapanelofjudgesandanaudience!
