Last week we asked for you to send in photos of what you get up to during
your daily hour of outdoor exercise. We know it’s difficult sometimes to get
out of the house sometimes, but how lovely to see nature carrying on around
us! The sun also gives us wonderful Vitamin D which is excellent for our bones
(and it cheers us up, too!).

Some of you still wanted to tell us about your favourite books to
read, or how much you have been reading at home! Mariami reads Vazha-Pshavela (Georgian writing) - she reads this book because it is written by one of the most popular authors. In this book she reads short tales and she completed her reading log about them. She has already read The Tale of a Fawn , The Roots, and she’s currently reading How Did Owls Appear on the Earth? Sofi also sent a picture of her wonderful work for her reading log. Ellie, Hull, Ismael and Mati wanted to show us that they’ve had their nose stuck in a book too!

Have you used the photo gallery to
get ideas for things to do at home?
Akifumi says: On the 5th of
May every year, it is a
Japanese tradition to
celebrate young boys’
growth. We usually eat
Kashiwa-mochi (a sticky
rice cake with sweet beans)
but it is hard to make. So
we made some 大福餅
Daifuku-mochi (a sticky/soft
rice cake filled with sweet
bean jam) with strawberries
in it, instead.
Here are some Art activities to try…
Eric and Elektra making mandalas
Reem’s modern art in the style of Jackson Pollock
Lily and Ellie making clay models
Martin making a bunting design with cut out paper
Jamal rolling up paper to make a design (quilling) Re-creating a favourite book illustration as a collage Learning how to use a sewing machine!
Imani picked a style
and ran with it!
Yum, Yum! What’s cooking?
David says: I made
these myself with a
little help from my
mum:) They are
called “ponchiki”. It is
something similar to
doughnuts, but a
different shape.
