    4.3.2 Measurement of ADD diopter

When measuring bifocal lens, this is used to see how much refractive power for near vision isadded on the refractive power for far vision.

After measuring far vision of refractive power, input refractive power of far vision by pressing

ADD measuring switch and the difference is displayed by the standard basing on it.

    [Process]

    1. Measure the far vision part of the lens in the process stated in 4.3.1.

    2. Press the ADD measuring switch.

    * Lamp at ADD on digital display part is lit

and it becomes ADD measuring mode.

    (Refer Fig.14)

    3. Shift the lens to come its near vision part

(small lens) on the nosepiece. (See Fig.15)

    NOTE

When shift the lens, raise the lens holder

    lever a little up.

    4. Focus the cross lines target to the side shown by indicator

    NOTE

If the target dose not come to the center of screen due to the effect of prism of the lens,

use the prism compensator and bring the target to the center of screen to enable getting

    better sharp focus.

4.3.3 Measurement of prism refractive power

Measuring of prism refractive is divided in three ranges.

    a. Within 5 prism diopter which can be read on the scale of screen.

    b. Range from 5 prism diopter to 15 prism diopter.

    c. Range from 15 prism diopter to 20 prism diopter. For the case of b. and c., use the

    prismcompensator.

When measuring prism refractive power in framed lenses, let the patient wear the glass and mark

the each center of pupil. Then put the lens on the nosepiece to come the mark on the center ofnosepiece.

    a. In case range within 5 prism diopter.

    [Process]

    1. Turn the diopter handle and make focusing

    of the target.

    2. Read the volume of shift and direction of the

target center from the center of screen.

Shifted volume in the scale of concentric circles

is the prism refractive power and direction read

on the angle scale is the direction of prism base.

    * If you turn the target rotation ring to go the

center line of long cross lines target through

the center of screen, then it makes easy

reading of the angle scale. (Refer Fig.16) 3Base 200
