**REPEAT MESSAGE** Parent Pack  - Thank you to the families who have returned updated contact details, permission forms etc.  Could remaining forms be returned asap please. We need a 100% return.

Communication – we continue to listen to you parents as stakeholders and have now added an Instagram account ‘ysgolsantesffraid’ to our several ways of communicating with you. We believe we have organised now that posts on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages are all linked. As ever, please be reassured that no children are named and the usual photos will be of groups of children as per your permissions.

Harvest Festival – please come to Church at 1.30 pm on Friday, 4th October to join in a service of thanks. The Church community make the request for non-perishable foods (tinned and packet) to be brought to Church to be distributed to those in need after the Festival. Many thanks. We shall return to school with the children who can then be dismissed to families early at the school gates who attend. Please note due to Harvest, there will be no PJ Drama. The collection will go to Pets as Therapy in order to support this charity we are starting to be connected with.

School Eisteddfod – this event will take place on 18th October. You will receive the programme next week. We have decided on the theme for the Arts and Crafts activities of 2d, 3d and ICT work. The children will soon be starting to learn their recitation and song pieces in school and will be available on their Seesaw accounts in order to practice at home too. There will be a raffle at the Eisteddfod, donations gratefully accepted.

Foundation Phase:- Castles

Key Stage 2:- Welsh Myths and Legends

Professional learning – We welcome Miss Ellie Brown to Mr McWhinnie’s class who joins us for her teaching placement until January. We hope she enjoys her time with us and that the experience is a valuable one. We also welcomed two other students for enrichment experience this week – Sabina Richards and Helen Renwick. As professionals, we equally learn from their input.

Curriculum for Wales, Curriculum for Life – we held Discovery mornings this week again in which all the children were mixed up into 4 groups to experience rich tasks in collaboration on the term topic.

After School Club – we organise our staffing for club according to the needs of parents. Thursday is an evening which is currently staffed by one person but we have had a few additional booking requests which we cannot honour due to ratios and income having to cover costs. If any families feel they need a Thursday, please let us know so we can make plans for a second member of staff.

Pets as Therapy – it was lovely to welcome Fred Brown to school with his Greyhound dog. They are both registered with the charity organisation Pets as Therapy which visit schools, residential homes, hospitals etc. The children had already seen a powerpoint about Belle who then visited us for a whole school assembly. Next week she will visit individual classes and after that will ‘listen’ to some children read etc. Once again, we request that you please let your class teacher know if your child has an allergy or strong fear of dogs. She is beautiful and extremely well behaved – we will ensure these specific children do not touch the dog and are kept at a distance.

Stay and Play –The provision to develop bilingualism called ‘Clwb Cwtsh’ continues to encourage basic Welsh phrases to be used with children. It sits alongside other activities going on during the afternoon.

**Ladybirds Latest**

We have been busy painting for our topic ‘People that help us’ and also learning about the names for our parts of the body. Please spread the word we have spaces in the Nursery including for 2 year olds on a Friday.

Friends of the School – A very successful FoS AGM meeting was held this week. Thank you to the parents who attended. We thank Lindsay Steele for her work as Chairperson over the last few years. The officials are as follows:-

Chairperson: Carrie Williams and Karly Owen

Secretary: Rachel Jones

Treasurer: Beth Patrick

Lots of ideas were discussed to raise funds specifically this year to develop our outdoor playground. Also a reminder to support the easyfundraising.org.uk page. Please register and when you then shop online, money goes to the Friends of the School.
