The Assembly may be seated as the priest closes the tabernacle doors; before he begins the purifying—no need to wait until he sits. The priest will then begin the concluding rites ending with the Blessing and Dismissal. Immediately, instead of a hymn, an instrumental postlude will begin as the priest leaves the church. Please remain in your place until the priest has exited through the doors. Please do not try to shout down the organ music as you exit the church. Center (DAC) at Holy Family Parish. We begin with Legionary prayers,

we discuss our assignments, have prayer and spiritual discussion. Each

week, if able, we are asked to do Mary’s work in some form. We do this

by visiting area nursing homes. Our goal is to make Mary present in our

visits. The needs of our community are growing. Mary wants to play a

role in our salvation but she needs you. You are under no obligation to

join, just sit in on a Monday and hear what we do. Let the Holy Spirit

guide and see if this is a path for you. Questions: call Karen Stumler 502-

Dear Parishioners,

As you may know, October has traditionally

been recognized as the month of the Holy

Rosary, and this, in part, is due to the fact

that we celebrate the memorial of Our Lady

of the Rosary on October 7. Historically, this

feast was established by Pope St. Pius V,

wishing to commemorate the anniversary of

a Christian naval victory in 1571 at

Lepanto, a victory attributed to the

intercession of Mary, Mother of God, who was

invoked by the praying of the rosary. The

details offered in the Liturgy of the Hours

regarding this feast state, “The celebration

of this day invites all to meditate upon the

mysteries of Christ, following the example of

the Blessed Virgin Mary who was so

singularly associated with the incarnation,

passion and glorious resurrection of the Son

of God.” Like her, we seek to treasure the

mysteries of Christ, pondering on them in

our hearts.

As best as history can tell, the rosary, as we

know it, originally developed as a simple

tool to help religious men and women,

particularly those who were illiterate, to

pray and count 50, 100, or 150

“Paternosters” (Our Father’s) in place of the

Psalms, which they prayed especially on

behalf of their deceased brethren. As the

“Angelic Salutation” (“Hail Mary, full of

grace, the Lord is with thee”) developed into

the Hail Mary we know today, and as

Marian devotion increased among the

faithful, so the Rosary developed a Marian

character, while always centered on Jesus

Christ.

Please pray a Rosary sometime this month

on behalf of our parish community.

Peace,

Fr. Kyle
