MISSION STATEMENT: Little Flower Parish as a faith community reaches out to all in service, compassion and love to fulfill our mission of proclaiming the gospel daily in word and deed.
Little Flower Parish is wheelchair accessible
through the Edgar Street entrance.
When I am incapable of praying, I want to keep telling
Jesus that I love him. It’s not difficult, and it keeps the
fire going.
~ St. Thérèse of Lisieux

Theme: Heroic people inspire us. Those whose heroism is rooted in the person of Jesus make great claims
upon our attention and our allegiance. We celebrate the heroes and heroines of our faith because they
announce by their lives that it is possible to remain a servant until death. Through them we experience the life
and death of Jesus, and we are drawn to follow their example.

Feed the Hungry
The Corporal Works of Mercy are found in the teachings of
Jesus and give us a model for how we should treat all others,
as if they were Christ in disguise. They “are charitable ac-
tions by which we help our neighbours in their bodily
needs” (USCCA) The corporal works of mercy consist espe-
cially in feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing
the naked, visiting the sick and imprisoned, and burying the
dead. Catechism of the Catholic Church

PRAYER MINISTRY
Please pray for the needs of the sick
of our parish, the homebound, those
in nursing homes and those who care
for them, especially: Marlene Baker,
Alfred Boehme, Anton & Catherine
Fahlman, John Fahlman, Fr. Marcel George, Andrew
Helmeczi, Dean Hutchence, Mary Kish, Fr. Ken Koep,
Fr. Norm Marcotte, Thomas & Theresa Periyilkatte,
Hans Reisinger, Claudia Sali, Fr. Art Vandendriessche,
Kathleen Wingerter and Louise Wingerter. Please
remember the repose of Frank Sombach, Eleanor Sali,
Rodney Holmes and Clairece Ferguson. Please also,
keep in your prayers all who are grieving the death of a
loved one.
Jesus is describing God’s immeasurable gener-
osity when He says in today’s Gospel,
“Whoever asks, receives; whoever seeks, finds;
whoever knocks, is admitted.” But it should
also be the description of us as Christian stew-
ards – those seeking to follow Christ by using
our gifts in service to others.
Vocation View
Be alert to God`s presence even in the least expected times,
places and events. You will be ready to respond to God`s call.

Parish Office Summer Office Hours
AUGUST 8:30 a.m.—Noon
Closed afternoons
Closed all day August 1 & 8
In case of an emergency, please leave a message on the
answering machine.
If we were to consider how much Jesus has suffered, one
would not commit the smallest sin.
SAINT GIANNA BERETTA MOLLA
We wish to sincerely thank Lucille Bou-
vier at The Plant Ranch for the donation
of the flowers you see around the out-
side of the church and rectory.
If the shoe fits…..buy it in every colour!
Year of Mercy Feed the Hungry
Research, identify and contribute financially to or-
ganizations that serve the hungry (Marian Centre)
Try not to purchase more food than you are able to
eat. If you notice that you end up throwing grocer-
ies away each week, purchasing less groceries
would eliminate waste and allow you to donate the
savings to those in need.
Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia
Think About It
The legalization of assisted suicide could lead to the
natural process of dying being recast as a process to be
avoided. This could lead to pressuring patients or their
families to choose a hastened death as a cost-saving
measure.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The normalization of suicide through the legalization of
physician-assisted suicide could significantly 8impact
suicide prevention programs. What happens if suicide,
instead of being a tragedy to avoid, becomes an accept-
able option or a “responsible” choice?
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
All persons deserve protection against discrimination,
but especially those who are vulnerable and may not
have a voice, including those living with disabilities,
mental illness, or dementia. Allowing assisted suicide
and euthanasia entrenches the idea that some lives are
not worth living.
Divine Mercy Kit
We have a sign-up sheet at the back of
the church for families who wish to take
home the travelling Divine Mercy Kit.
This kit has been put together by the Eu-
charistic Apostles of divine Mercy in
Canada. Families are encouraged to take
the kit home for a week and pray with it.
Please return it the following Saturday so
the next family on the list may take it
home.

Summer Vacation
When you go on vacation don’t forget to
mail or deliver your church envelope to your
own church. Regular expenses continue
through the summer months and we rely on
your donations. Thank you.
^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Are you going on vacation? If you will be staying in ho-
tels or motels, please consider saving the little
soaps and bottles of shampoo, conditioner and
lotions to donate to Visitation House and Marian
Centre. We will have a tub at the back of the
church to collect these items.
Are you interested in the Catholic Faith?
R.C.I.A. This fall we will begin a new journey in faith to share the
richness of the Catholic Church and our parish family.
We invite you to learn what the Church teaches in an
open and welcoming environment. These sessions also
are opportunities for you to ask those perplexing and dif-
ficult questions you may have about the Church. These
gatherings are for inquirers and are open to people who
are unbaptized, as well as those who are baptized Chris-
tians from other denominations, and for Catholics who
were baptized but did not receive the sacraments on Con-
firmation and/or Eucharist. For more information please
contact Father Jose at 306-522-8583.
Celebrating the Sacraments
at Little Flower Parish Registration for the sacraments of Baptism, Reconcilia-
tion and Confirmation/First Eucharist will take place in
the parish auditorium on Tuesday, September 20, 2016
at 7:00 p.m. This will be the only date for registering
your child in any of the above sacraments. The meeting
is for parents only.
Offering of the Mass
By virtue of the “communion of saints,” the Church
commends the dead to God’s mercy and offers her
prayers especially the holy sacrifice of the Eucharist,
on their behalf. (Catechism of the Catholic Church.) This
practice dates as far back as Judas collecting a sin-
offering for the dead, making an atonement so that they
might be delivered from their sin. (2 Maccabees 12:39-45).
Masses may also be offered for the intentions of the
living or in thanksgiving. Masses may be requested
through the parish office.
