LITERATURE REVIEWS

There are several kinds of brick making machines including the traditional way of brick making, which all have specific features which make them more or less distinct for different applications. The key difference is the way or mechanism by which brick is made. Most are powered by either hydraulic or electric power and also the way those machines are operated, means those machines are may be fully automatic or semi automatic is also another distinct feature of those machines. The different techniques also reflect in the pricing and availability in the local market, and also operational simplicity of those machines mater specific difference of each machines.

In recent years various bricks making machines including the traditional way of brick making have their own way of operation produced for use in brick making industry. Those brick making industries have also experience the influx of various brick making machines, some of which are

Fully automatic brick making machines

These machines are operated by the turning effect of electric motor to drive the gear which will eventually turn the mixing, smashing, blinding system and screw conveyer which are both mounted on the same shaft and the molding process is performed by hydraulic system. This device could be very expensive and there is high probability of jerking during startup of the machine through the torque created by the electric motor.

The challenge of this system is

Due to high operational load there is possibility of snapping in the electric cable which could lead to exposure of the cable and could lead to electrocution.

It requires other accessories to be operated it requires trained personnel to operate it successfully It requires regular maintenance

Overheating in electrical coil could damage the system

Traditional way of brick making process

In this method of brick making process bricks are produced by mixing ground clay with water

and forming the clay into the desired shape using timber or metal mold then drying and firing

process will take the place , within this kind of brick making process every process is performed

by hand.

The challenges of this system are

The process is tired some In accurate shape Poor quality Less production rate

Manually operated brick making machine

These machines are operated manually using hand. They do not need any other power input. The operation is performed by filling a soil mixture in a compression chamber and then compressing it using the pull handle until it reaches its maximum travel.

The challenges of this system are

Low production capacity Time consuming and tiresome operation. Needs more space since the other operations except molding performed outside the

machine Less flexible Low quality product
