Teachers and school districts need to begin to focus on the importance of

technology and mobile learning in schools. If not already in place, there needs to be a

transition set up to integrate mobile learning into the classroom. The benefits

of mobile learning out weigh the negatives of mobile learning. This is to prepare our

youth for the 21st century job market.

Problem

To prepare students of all ages elementary, secondary, and post-secondary for the 21st century job market.

To enhance student’s learning experiences in the classroom.

To provide convenience and flexibility in learning.

To give learners a chance to design their own learning experiences.

Why mobile learning?

Old School Ways of Teaching

21st Century Teaching

Teacher led learning through direct instruction.

Students takes control of their own learning by feeding their curiosity.

Main theories of classroom instruction: behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism.

In addition to other theories: Distance learning theory, where students and teachers can connect outside the classroom.

Students are not as interested or actively involved in learning.

Students are more actively engaged and interested in their learning.

Technology advances are not supported in the classroom.

Technology is more readily available for students to use in the classroom.

Old School vs. 21st Century Teaching

Types of Mobile Learning

Provide an elevated higher level of education that is more hands on.

To challenge our students and let them take control of learning.

To easily assess students on material and get immediate feedback.

To engage, empower, challenge, and inspire our students.
