Mr. Darcy’s enemies, Elizabeth believes him

man in possession of a good fortune, must be in
want of a wife. Opening of Pride and Prejudice

Connections
• This story is about a bad first impression that turns
out to be wrong. When I first met a new girl, I
thought that she was really rude because she didn’t
talk to me. It turned out that she was really shy.
She became a good friend.
• In part of the story, Elizabeth has to take care of
Jane who got really sick. It reminds me of a time
that my brother had surgery and I had to help my
mom take care of him. I cared about what happened
to him just like Elizabeth cared about her sister.
Connections
• Mr. Wickham tells a lot of lies about Mr. Darcy to
make Elizabeth not like him. It reminds me of a
time that a girl in my class started a rumor about
my friend so that she wouldn’t be liked by anyone. I
knew it wasn’t true so I didn’t believe it. It hurt my
friends feelings.
• The setting of the story takes place in England. I
have visited England and enjoyed going to places
that had ballrooms like the ones in this story.
