Books The Middle Passage By: Tom Feelings A book of pictures that describe the horrors of the Middle Passage.

RootsBy: Alex HaleyA story about a boy named Kunta kinte. It is the story of his life from his childhood in an African village, when he is captured and sold to work at a plantation to when his daughter is sold. Could provide useful background knowledge for teacher.

Reversing SailBy: Michael A. GomezTells the history of Africa from the old world, through the middle passage. A good resource for teachers background knowledge.

Pictures/Maps Slave Trade, Middle PassageThis is a pictures showing how the slaves had to travel during the Middle Passage. It illustrates the harsh conditions they had to endure. This could be used as a discussion tool to get the students thinking of questions.

Map of Triangular TradeThis is a map that shows the trade routes that the ships had to go through.

used for assignment, learning stations, or if a student has finished their work early.

Slavery in AfricaThis video is a video that discusses slaves within Africa, as well as slave trade during Atlantic Slave Trade.

More about AfricaThis video gives information about the all the continents on Earth. It then talks about some of the types of people on Africa and leads to a little bit about the Atlantic Slave Trade. It discusses the effects of this on Africa.
