LISA TILTON-McCARTHY
Lisa Tilton-McCarthy received a B.A. in English from Texas A&M University in College Station and graduated summa cum laude
from South Texas College of Law in Houston. She was Editor-in-Chief of South Texas Law Review as well as Valedictorian of her
graduating class.
After graduation, Ms. Tilton-McCarthy served as a law clerk for the Honorable Vanessa D. Gilmore, United States District Court
for the Southern District of Texas. She went on to work as an associate in the trial department of international law firm Baker Botts,
L.L.P. for more than five years. She then accepted a visiting professorship at South Texas College of Law to focus on teaching legal
research and writing. She also has held the position of clinical assistant professor of Lawyering Skills and Strategies at the University
of Houston Law Center.
Ms. Tilton-McCarthy currently teaches Lawyering Skills and Strategies to the Foreign L.L.M. students. She continues to teach
part-time at South Texas College of Law in the Academic Success department as well, where she helps students develop a solid
foundation for the practice of law after graduation. Additionally, she teaches Marital Property and Professional Responsibility
during the summer sessions.
Ms. Tilton-McCarthy still practices law and is of counsel to local Houston law firms, Novelli, Harvie & Associates, Attorneys at
Law, P.L.L.C., and the Roberts Law Firm. She is also employed by other Houston-area law firms as a legal writing consultant. As an
advocate of strong communication skills, she works with younger associates in the firm to improve their writing proficiency.

Dan Schoepf is the executive vice president of Global Sales for BARBRI. He has extensive experience in high-stakes education and
testing protocol. Prior to his current role, he was president of Prospects to Partners, a consulting firm based in Prairie Village, Kansas.
He founded Prospects to Partners by leveraging years of sales and sales management experience.
Throughout his career, Mr. Schoepf has participated in highly recognized training and educational programs. The ideas and material
presented by Prospects & Partners have been proven successful across a variety of industries. He is also the founder of Lungs Up,
Legs Down Leadership, offering participants the opportunity to gain additional knowledge about leadership and ways to apply the
knowledge to fit their personal style and teams. Participants in the program have the chance to challenge themselves mentally and
physically in an attempt to summit a 14,000-foot peak in Colorado.
Mr. Schoepf is a frequent keynote speaker at educational conferences and national meetings throughout the United States.
Additionally, he is the successful author of Sales: America’s Other National Pastime—What Baseball Can Teach Us About Selling and
Green Golf Balls. Both are books on selling and sales strategy.
Mr. Schoepf’s other positions include chief learning officer for Ascend Learning, senior vice president of Sales for five Ascend
Learning business units and president of the National Healthcareer Association. He has participated in leadership development and
sales courses at the Kellogg School of Business, Harvard University, Stanford University, The Wharton School and many others.

REUBEN ADVANI
Reuben Advani is a frequent speaker on topics ranging from corporate valuation to financial reporting and is the author of two
successful business books, The Wall Street MBA (McGraw-Hill) and Financial Freedom: A Guide to Achieving Lifelong Wealth and
Security (Apress). Additionally, he founded a company to provide Professional Development training, which is now part of
BARBRI for Legal Practice. He has presented to audiences in the United States, Europe and Asia. Prominent magazines have
featured Mr. Advani, including Investor’s Business Daily and U.S. News & World Report.
Mr. Advani began his career with Morgan Stanley & Co. Inc. in the firm’s corporate finance division. While with the Wall Street
bank, he worked on debt and equity offerings for Fortune 500 companies and assessed strategic acquisitions for oil and gas
businesses. After Morgan Stanley, he joined Sony Corporation where he was active in the development of Sony’s online initiatives.
He also advised the company’s senior officers on various financial hedging strategies. He has provided consulting services to
companies throughout the U.S. and Latin America and has held interim management positions with several of them.
Mr. Advani holds a B.A. from Yale University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Additionally, he serves as an adjunct professor of finance at Drexel University, Temple University and Villanova University.

Steven B. Levy is a business leader, project manager and the author of Legal Project Management: Control Costs, Meet Schedules,
Manage Risks, and Maintain Sanity and The Off Switch: Discovering Your Work-Work Balance. He has spent many years helping the
legal world deliver increased client value.
Mr. Levy is the CEO of Lexician, which provides training, coaching and consulting to law firms and in-house departments on
Legal Project Management, leadership and management. He has delivered full-day and multi-day classes on these subjects to
law firms, law departments and government agencies domestically and internationally. Additionally, he is a regular keynote and
session speaker at legal conferences, having delivered numerous keynotes in the United States as well as in Australia and Canada.
Mr. Levy formerly headed Microsoft’s legal technology/operations department, driving innovation and efficiency into one of

his 17 years at the company.

CAREN ULRICH STACY
Caren Ulrich Stacy is a lawyer recruitment and development expert. She has 20 years of experience in lawyer recruitment,
development and diversity with law firms across the country, including Arnold & Porter LLP, Cooley I Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP,
McGuireWoods LLP, and Jenkens & Gilchrist, P.C.
Ms. Stacy was awarded the National Association of Legal Professionals (NALP) Mark of Distinction for Professional Development
and Training in 2009 as a result of her vision, leadership and innovation. She was also elected as a fellow of the College of Law
Practice Management, and was later appointed to the Colorado Chief Justice’s Commission on the Legal Profession. She has
contributed to over 200 presentations and publications on legal talent management and authored several highly-regarded books,
including Loyalty by Design: A Practical Guide for Developing an Effective Associate Integration Program and her newest book, The Talent
Trifecta: Effectively Selecting, Developing, and Managing Your Lawyers for the Benefit of Your Clients, which will be published in 2014.
Ms. Stacy is an adjunct professor for the Denver University Sturm College of Law Master of Science in Legal Administration Program.
