DESCRIPTION
My Visual Journals are a place to discover my deepest feelings about relationships, events that have happened, encounters in nature and the meaning of place. As I work, I immerse myself in the piece; it is as if time stands still. My senses become more vivid, my emotions more intense. I discover a new way of understanding. As I witness my life through this act of creation something larger than my mind takes over. It feels very magical. Sometimes working on a particularly powerful piece can feel like a ritual. As I put my strongest intentions onto the paper, it feels like a visual prayer. I have carried my journals across continents; they are a way to record the ambience I feel: the mystery of spiritual India, the push and pull of Africa, the wonder of the place where I live. Workshops with Lisa de St. CroixLisa de St. Croix is an artist currently living in Santa Fe. Lisa was born in South Africa. After moving to the USA she attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Lisa’s paintings have been exhibited nationally as well as internationally in France, Mexico and South Africa. Her work is in several collections and many of her paintings hang in public spaces. As well as painting in oils Lisa works in visual journals recording in multi media different aspects of her life. Creator of the Oracle Deck and The Natural Wisdom Deck Lisa is currently creating The Tarot de St.
Croix. She has been teaching workshops in New Mexico for the past ten years.
Travel and Nature Visual Journaling
Visual journaling combines both art making and the written word. Travel Journals record the ambience and personal experiences of the places you visit in an explosion of color and rich textures using found imagery such as maps, postcards and brochures as well as painting and writing. Nature Visual Journaling is an opportunity to slow down and observe the natural world while sketching, painting and writing outdoors.
Visionary Painting
In this transformative workshop visionary artist Lisa de St. Croix will provide a safe and sacred space to paint from the deep inner wisdom that resides within you. Using guided meditation and a classic shamanic technique of the heartbeat drum Lisa will lead you into a trance journey where your spirit guides and totem animals reside. Remaining in a light trance you will intuitively paint your visions.
Creating your own Oracle Deck
Using guided meditation we will access our inner wisdom, spirit guides and plant and animal allies to create the beginning of a set of divination cards. We will use a variety of materials such as collage, paint, rubber stamps and text on cardstock. The deck may continue to grow after the workshop as dreams, symbols and images that have meaning come to you.
Workshop fee is $60 per hour per person – group discounts are available.The duration of workshops may vary from one and a half hours to three hours. Lisa’s charming studio is a few blocks from the Santa Fe Plaza, she is also available to teach at your facility or on location.
