News from Engineering
Safety-Lock Throttle LeversStandard on All Dynabrade Tools
Safety first! Now that I have your attention, a throttle lever is the most common feature used tomanually turn a pneumatic power tool on and off. When the tool is connected to a pressurized air hose, applying a small amount of force on the throttlelever starts the tool instantly.
When a tool is equipped with a basic throttle lever, an operator will purposely turn the tool on to begin work, but it is also possible for the throttle to be triggered accidentally, beforethe operator is prepared. This is called unintentional starting,
and it creates a safetyhazard that can resultin serious injury to the operator or co-workers. Damage tothe power tool, workpiece and/or acces-sory can also occur. A“lock-off ” type ofthrottle lever hasproven to be very ef-
fective in reducing or eliminating unintentional starting. Thismechanism automatically latches in the off position when thethrottle lever is released.
Recently Dynabrade made the decision to standardize ourportable air tools with safety-lock throttle levers. We have dis-
continued production of our basic levers and are preparing to manufacture all Abrasive Belt Tools, Die Grinders, DiscSanders, Grinders and Buffers with safety-lock throttle levers.(Most of our Grinders have been equipped with safety-locklevers for years.)
In addition we have also designed and manufactured two new heavy-duty safety-lock throttle levers. These heavy-dutylevers are designed for harsh environments, and for operatorsand applications that require a more durable lever.
Dynabrade puts your safety FIRST!
