What’s In An Update?• Status updates in LinkedIn are similar to the same feature in Facebook.
They allow you to share relevant content with the LinkedIn community. In LinkedIn, this community is focused on professional info – but that doesn’t mean eliminating your personality in your posts!
These updates are opportunities that you should take advantage of daily to share things about your career life with your connections. Industry news, your views on your field, helpful tips, memorable quotes from others – share with your network every day!
LinkedIn Groups
Sharing articles, asking questions, and answering questions are all great ways to MEET people while adding to the conversation.
Following members helps
you see member updates.
Posting content in your groups is a great way
to raise awareness of
your presence and value.
Take your group discussions further…

Career IdentityDigital
Reputation Your public expression of your personality, your career niche, your
values, the skill sets you bring to the table and your talents and abilities.
Your brand must be authentic, genuine and true to who you are

Making Connections
Connections are about
opening up your network,
not only about who
you previously
knew at a job, college or
school.
Recommendations – A foundational element of LinkedIn
Former supervisors, colleagues, employees, social media colleagues, friends, interns, volunteer staff…all of these people can recommend you.
• To get the most out of Recommendations, you must be willing to ask your relevant connections to tell people why you are a great solution.
Want proof you’re a difference maker? Just ask.
LinkedIn Company Profiles
Find out what the company is doing – utilize this feature as a research tool.
You can also find statistics about each company.
LinkedIn CompaniesFollow a
company to be notified when the company profile is updated, new jobs open, or
employees join, or
leave, an organization
.
LinkedIn Signal
• Social media makes up an important portion of your career toolbox.
• Used together, these tools make your job search much faster and easier. A great example of this dynamic is LinkedIn Signal.
• Signal taps into the tweets posted by the people in your LinkedIn network. It then gives you the ability to search those tweets for the most relevant content.
What is the value of this type of application?
Skills & Expertise Features the ability to
search and select skills to show on
your profile, links to the profiles of
professionals with those skills, and a
listing of jobs that focus on
those skills.
