Then...Built primarily on the original location of the formerPatons and Baldwins Wool Factory, the site of LingfieldPoint dates back to 1945, and has always beensynonymous with thriving business enterprise.

Patons and Baldwins believed in creating a businesscommunity, and built homes, schools and colleges, amedical centre, football and cricket pitches and tenniscourts on the site, alongside the factory.

The company wanted to ensure the health and happinessof its workforce and created a buzzing hub of social activitywith the Beehive Theatre at the heart of it. It is thisblueprint for community living which Marchday continueto emulate today.

Marchday Group plc purchased the Lingfield Point site in1998, inheriting a collection of largely vacant buildings, many of which were in need of repair and renewal.

Sustainable Mixed Community...Our vision for Lingfield Point is to turn it into a fullysustainable mixed community, uniquely tailored toour staff through the introduction of low energyhomes, nurseries and leisure venues, as well as thesuperb business spaces we already offer.

“When we began developing Lingfield Point, wehad an ambitious vision of turning the site into oneof the most sustainable, mixed use communities inthe UK, where people could live and work withgreat facilities in great surroundings. Today we’rehappy and proud to say that our vision is rapidlybecoming a reality.”

Development of our low energy family homes willbegin within the next 12 months and a combinedheat and power unit will also provide low cost, lowcarbon energy for our businesses, homes andschool that will be built on the business park. Fromproducing honey on site, to serving organic fruitand vegetables – grown in our own allotments, inour café, Lingfield Point believe in maxmisingnatural resources to deliver the best.

We are creating a 21st century vision of the goodlife – and we’re well on our way to achieving this.

“This will really take the site back to the pioneeringspirit of Patons & Baldwins who, all those yearsago, worked really hard to create a communitywhere people could simply walk to work, drop offtheir kids, eat good food and generally enjoy a truecommunity spirit. I hope that they’d be happy to

see how their original vision is being translated intoa blueprint for a good life in the 21st century”John Orchard, Marchday
