Summary of Soil Investigation The investigation included 3 borings to a depth of 5’. All three borings were taken at the toe of the existing inslope along the area of the proposed truck inspection site. Maps of the boring locations are shown in Appendix B. The lab results are included in Appendix D. Summary of Soil Analysis Two of the soil borings in this area are classified as sandy lean clays with an AASHTO classification of A-6. The third boring is classified as a silty sand with an AASHTO classification of A-2-4. The sandy lean clays have on average a maximum dry density of approximately 125 lb/ft3 and an optimum water content of approximately 10%. The in-place moistures of the sandy lean clays are on average 10% to 16% over optimum. The silty sand has on average a maximum dry density of 126.9 lb/ft3 and an optimum water content of 9.5%. The in-place moisture of the silty sand is on average 0% to 6% over optimum.

The recommendations in this report are based on the scope specified in the Introduction. If the scope of work, vertical profile or horizontal alignment is changed, in either the conceptual phase or the design phase, the Geotechnical Engineer must be notified as soon as possible to ensure that there is adequate geotechnical information addressing these areas.
