LHS Diver Breaks
School Record
More than just a bunch of swimmers…
Lincoln’s Student Athletes are the
Greatest! Let’s take a moment to recognize a group whose role is vital to our program’s success. We have some amazing student athletes, swimmers and divers from our various teams who are committed to helping the swim programs grow by getting involved in all the events at the pool. They generously give their spare time to help out whenever and wherever needed. You will find them helping out with all the teams. Their true “Team Spirit” is evident as they cheer for each other, offering support and encouragement to all of the swimmers in their family.
Speaking of family…
When you join one of the swim teams, you
become part of our family! That’s right, we
think of ourselves as a family. Spend more
than a couple of minutes around the pool
deck and you will see just what we’re
talking about.
It takes a village to run a swim program.
Lots of volunteers are needed to work as
timers, score keepers, concessions, etc.
We have moms, dads, siblings,
grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends
all working together to provide a great
experience while celebrating our
swimmer’s achievements.

Lincoln Riptides Swim Club
The Riptides started off the season with a win against Whitmore Lake, and since then have fought hard against two well renowned and developed teams: South Lyon and Ypsi Otters. The Riptides will be heading to Dundee for their next meet on February 26. This meet will test our swimmers endurance in mid-distance and they are excited for the challenge.
Riptide:

Congratulations to diver Emma
Kellerman, who advanced all the way to
the state finals in December. Emma's
freshman season was a stunning
success, and we all look forward to what
Emma and the rest of the Lincoln Dive
Program can accomplish in the coming
years.
“Congratulations, Emma, on a great
season!” – Coach Joe
We were greatly improved this year, definitely the fastest team that we've had since I've been the coach here. We had our first in-conference win since I started, against Ypsilanti, and followed that up by also beating them at our SEC meet. This season also marked the first time we've finished above 6th place in recent years.

Season Highlights from Coach Cook
“It takes an incredible
amount of strength and
stamina to swim.
Especially the butterfly
stroke.”

Olivia scored us big points at SECs in both her individual events, and Emma Kellerman had an outstanding meet placing 3rd and medaling for us as a freshman. Our team’s strength was in our talented freshmen and sophomores which I find very exciting because we have another strong group of freshmen swimmers coming up next year.
We also hope to give Emma some company at the state meet in the very near future. Best of luck to our six seniors who graduate this year! You will be missed, so don’t forget to stop by and say hello once in a while.

LHS Men’s 2012-2013 Swim Team
If you think swimming is an
easy sport – you are
WRONG! Our men’s team
starts their day with a dry-
land workout at 5:15 am.
They are in the pool from
5:45 to 7:00 am and then
they go to school all day
and are back in the water
from 3 to 5 pm. No,
swimming is definitely
NOT an easy sport.
Statistically, swimmers
have higher GPA’s than
other athletes and ours are
not an exception. Several
of our swimmers are
members of the National
Honor Society.
About Lincoln Railsplitter Men's Swimming
Instant Athlete….. Just Add Water!
This year, we have a
foreign exchange student
on our team. Mads
(pronounced Mass)
Nielsen is from Denmark
and is a welcome addition
to our team.
The Men’s team recently
swam at the Erie Mason
Invitational where they
collected 23 Medals and
Sam Edwards placed 1st in
the diving competition.
Many personal bests have
been reached this season
and a few boys have the
state time cuts within their
reach. With continued
hard work and
determination, they just
might get there!
