dating and maintaining sepa-rate residences. So you have tolearn to sustain the love evenunder different circumstances.Change is a part of life andsometimes you have to flowwith it and adapt.
Living together is a big adjustment; you are ineach other's faces more, you have to be moreaccountable, share space and establish a house cul-ture. You were both independently running your ownlives, now together, you have to share that power andco-exist.
I am suggesting that you have an ask-and-tell ses-sion. First, ask the woman if she thinks that thingshave changed since you are living together and payattention to her responses. Then after you have lis-tened, you can tell her that you are seeing a differentside of her; share your observations in a non-accusa-tory tone. Then you should both discuss what can bedone differently. Unless there is more to it than youare saying, both persons being committed to changecan make a huge difference.
Why Are Women So Unfair Send your questions confidentially [email protected] or via twitter at @korennorton
Dear Koren,I was dating a young lady and we bought a small
house and land together because we thought wewere going to have a permanent relationship. However, since we started living together, she haschanged and is very demanding and treat me like I'ma boy and not a man. When I told her let's separate, she say I can move if I want to but she not giving upthe place to sell and share. Why are women sowicked? –Frustrated
Dear Frustrated,
All women are not wicked just like all men are notdogs so let's not generalize. While I believe you areentitled to half of the property if you made an equalinvestment, I am not in a position to advise you legal-ly, so I think you should speak with someone who hasa legal background and who can inform you of yourrights and what your next steps should be.
Why are you throwing in the towel so quickly? When you start living with someone, often times yousee a different side to them than when you are just

Ticked off @ Ticks I want you to know in my opinion, not all bugs are
equal. Some I have decided belong in one of the lower
rungs of Dante’s Inferno. These include mosquitoes
and ticks – the bloodsuckers of humans and animals
alike. Mosquitoes I tackle with the usual armament –
spray repellents, aromatic but poisonous coils, cit-
ronella candles, and electric zapper rackets. As a last
resort I invite my friends the geckos in for a buffet
meal or I retreat under a mosquito net. However, ticks
take a totally different battle plan and not everything
sold across the counter works as some products false-
ly promise.
Every summer it seems ticks decide to come out
from hiding and make a massive exodus to the great
expanse and shady environs of my dog, Spice’s long-
haired body. They set up camp, dig in and start feast-
ing, getting very fat and round in just a short time.
They propagate quickly with thousands of eggs laid
by the female. They do not discriminate about what
territory they land in, legs, back, stomach, ears –
some seem to enjoy his long tail like a Baja, California
Resort. Spice of course does not like their presence,
but does not have the proper tools to eradicate these
illegal invaders.
This is where I come in. “Ok Spice, It’s time to get
you on Frontline Plus again.” This liquid in a small
plastic vial is poured between the shoulder blades of
your dog and is supposed to get into the bloodstream
and be a repellent to ticks. It is administered monthly.
Well, Spice is already on his third dose this summer
and the ticks just wave at me from under their umbrel-
las, picnics in full gear. I got on the Internet and found
out that ticks are now immune to some of the repel-
lent ingredients in this product, so much for this
expensive over the counter treatment. Tick shampoo
you say. I have tried many brands and all I accomplish
it seems, is give the ticks a nice bath. The final solu-
tion is the dreaded “tick dip.” One brand Paramite, is
a lethal substance and is commonly used on cattle.
You need rubber gloves to sponge it on your dog, it
has an awful smell and you are instructed not to wash
it off.
My long-suffering patient pooch leaves it up to me
to fight the tick battle for him. I can’t let him down, so
it looks like the final measures of tick dip and the
house fogger will be employed to keep these pesky
parasites from setting up camp in my territory.

Olympus Has Fallen
By Arlena St. Hilaire
Cast & CreditsGerard Butler-------------------------Mike BanningAaron Eckhart-----------------Pres.Benjamin AsherRick Yune--------------------------------------KangMorgan Freeman ------------------Speaker TurnbullAngela Bassett--------------------SSD Lynn Jacobs
Olympus Has Fallen opens with US President
Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart) and his family at
Camp David for Christmas, when their motorcade
skids on an icy bridge after a blown out tire and goes
over the edge. Secret Service agent Mike Banning
(Gerard Butler) has to make the tough decision to
save the President or sacrifice his wife (Ashley Judd).
We fast forward 18 months and Mike is “riding” a
desk after the devastating incident left him shut out
of the White House, when he failed to save the pres-
idents wife. Moments later we see enemy forces
invading the White House and the surrounding area
with high-powered guns. Covert terrorist disguised
as tourist know that the military response time for
protecting the White House is 15 minutes, and are
able to take over the White House before the troops
arrive.
This is not good news for President Asher or the
other high ranking officials, who have been taken
hostage. The eading terrorist Kang (Rick Yune) wants
the United States to stand down from shielding South
Korea, and he's prepared to use the president's feel-
ings for his son Connor (Finley Jacobsen) to accom-
plish this. That’s if they can find him hidden some-
where in the White House first.
The terrorists, however, have failed to reckon on
the fighting skills of Secret Service agent Mike
Banning. Mike survives the initial assault on 1600
Pennsylvania Avenue, and he arrives in time to take
out a few of the extras and battle his way into the
mansion, guns ablaze.
Once inside the heavily damaged structure, Mike
contacts his old boss, Secret Service director Lynn
Jacobs (Angela Bassett), and Speaker of the House
Trumbull (Morgan Freeman) now the nation's acting
Commander in Chief, to appraise them of develop-
ments as he is the only survivor giving them intel from
the inside the White House.
Kang pursues a secret code to detonate nuclear
plants that will spell doom for the homeland should
he possess it. Mike races against the clock to rescue
the president before he is tortured for the codes that
could bring an end to American civilization.

It’s a hard-knock life out there for scripted TV
shows these days. With increasing pressure from
unscripted shows, video games, the Internet and the
economy, getting and especially keeping a show on
the air is not only a creative but a financial challenge.
But every now and then, the stars align, and you
get just what you want.
For Callie Thorne of USA’s sports-psychologist
dramedy Necessary Roughness, which began its third
season in June, that’s a huge, colorful new office set,
boasting funky modern furnishings and shiny white
floors that reflect light back into the face.
It’s home to V3 (short for Caesar’s famous declara-
tion “Veni, vidi, vici” — “I came, I saw, I conquered”),
the New York City sports agency/global marketing
firm that has just hired her character, Dr. Dani Santino.
“I call it the magic castle,” she says in the show’s
Atlanta production offices during a break in filming.
“There are so many different rooms and areas to
shoot in. Starting the seventh episode, I don’t even
think we’ve actually used every piece of this set yet.
Because, all of a sudden, we’ll be doing a scene, and
I’ll be, like, ‘Where’d this come from?’ ”
Meanwhile, one of the show’s other regular char-
acters, New York Hawks football player Terrence “TK”
King (Mehcad Brooks) — who follows therapist Dani
to become a V3 client — is embarking on a new ven-
ture of his own. The longtime ladies’ man may finally
be settling down.
Kate Miner appears in the recurring role of model
Sheera Kane, who captures TK’s eye.
“We meet because of V3,” says Brooks, “because
we’re in the same branding agency. So, there’s some
love in the air, and there’s some sex in the bed. It
becomes complicated, as all relationships do, but it
definitely starts off as a wonderful thing, and the love
blossoms.
“There was a lot of chemistry between Kate and I,
and we just clicked. We have a lot in common in per-
son. We went to the same college and knew some of
the same people. It’s just weird.”

A Step On ‘Project Podium’
If a sport is to be successful, I firmly believe itsleadership much have a vision for it, where they wantto lead it and develop a plan they can execute.
It was almost eight months ago on November 28,2012 on Tortola and Dec 1 on Virgin Gorda, I met withcoaches, athletes and parents along with BVIAthletics Association General Secretary DelvaThomas.
The meeting’s aim was to identify all the 10-14year old athletes on Track Clubs who would be 16-17-years olds between 2015-2018. By this exercise,we identified every contender between 2013 and2019 currently in athletics training and aligned themwith future youth and Jr. competitions that targettheir ages—such as the IAAF World YouthChampionships, IAAF World Jr. Championships, PanAm Jr. Championships, Commonwealth YouthGames and Youth Olympic Games.
I’d noticed that we were winning medals at theannual Carifta Games and the Central American andCaribbean Jr. Championships. However, unlike our fel-low Caribbean neighbors, our athletes who hadbagged medals at these championships, weren’tadvancing to semifinals, finals and winning medalslike their regional peers.
Thus, the idea of conceiving “Project Podium” – agoal to obtain a medal in a major championships with-in the next 5-years in competitions where the BVI hasnever medaled.
As the 8th IAAF World Youth Championshipsunfolded in Donetsk, Ukraine, July 10-14, there weresome visible signs of progress. Three athletes—Tarika“Tinker Bell” Moses, Nelda Huggins and JonelLacey—advanced to the semifinals of the 400 and200m events respectively. Taylor Hill tied for third inthe 100m with the same time as a Czech Republic run-ner, who got the nod in a photo finish. We’ve neverhad that total advancing combined since we beganparticipating in 2003.
The came the Girls Medley Relay, with Hill,Huggins, Moses and Lakeisha “Mimi” Warner, whoautomatically advanced to the territory’s first final byfinishing behind Canada. Lacey who was sick andcould not contest her 200m final replaced Warner inthe final. I knew then we’d win a medal.
On Sunday, the team won the silver medal—justeight months after “Project Podium” had been con-ceived. With over 1500 athletes from 174 countriescompeting from six IAAF Regions in the champi-onships, I was able to look down the medal charts andsee tied for #25, British Virgin Islands. Only 37 of the174 had athletes walking off with medals.
While I was congratulating the athletes on thisachievement, I had to run to my charts to see who’s inthe pool and could be representing in 2015 at the nextchampionships in Cali, Colombia.
Today is our turn to welcome the entire delegationhome and congratulate them on their achievement. Inthe process, we need to ensure that the BVI AthleticsAssociation is adequately supported to continue.
Tarika Moses, Taylor Hill, Jonel Lacey, Nelda Huggins and Lakeisha “Mimi” Warner
