Lighting the way for Young

Cyclists….

Biking with kids to and from school is priceless….-Exercise

-Talk About School-More Connected at Drop-Off

-Avoid Car Line!

I’m seeing more Lighthouse cyclists than I have in years...

Jupiter & Abacoa are very bike friendly, but there are some challenges…..

Founded Jupiter Walk and Bike with Beth White:

-7+ Jupiter Crosswalks Have been Improved

-15 + Are in Process (Including the Crosswalk in Front of Lighthouse)

-Meeting with Palm Beach County Re: Central Blvd & A1A

“Pop-up” Bike Lanes - A Nationwide Tend….

Campus Entrance not Designed for Cyclists….

Pedestrians and Cyclists crowded into one small path leads to congestion and complaints….

Understandable reaction….

● Biking is Slower than driving, so those extra minutes are precious:

-Being On Time-Taking Older Siblings to Beacon

● Kids Struggle walking bikes for long distance● Enforcement will be Unpleasant for Everyone

● Visibility of Cyclists will be a motivator for car line drivers

So Just Walk Bikes - What’s the Problem?

Proposal: Dedicated Two-Way Bike Lane (s)

There are Funding Programs Available

Benefits:➔Visibility Encourages More Cyclists

➔Reduces Car Line Volume➔Helps Kids Focus in the Morning

➔Great Publicity

Robert Avossa seems like someone who would embrace this (PBCSD Could use some positive publicity)
