Light Green Ethical Investing Today I am going to tell you about Light Green ethical investments and review a couple of investments that fit into this sector. Light green investments are at the mainstream end of the ethical investments market and here is a reminder of what they are: "A light green investment fund would qualify itself for inclusion in the ethical investment funds category, by (usually) avoiding those industries and products that most readily spring to mind as unethical: military, armaments and defence; tobacco and alcohol products; gambling, pornography, and possibly nuclear energy as well." So light green ethical investment falls into the passive category in that the investment or fund manager seeks to avoid investing in companies that do harm to the environment. They do not seek to invest in companies that by their activities aim to improve the environment. The first investment that we review that falls squarely into this category is Prestige Alternative Finance. Prestige Alternative Finance invests in a diversified portfolio of rural, commercial and industrial loans and leasing agreements in the United Kingdom. The fact sheet states:

Light Green Ethical Investing

Today I am going to tell you about Light Green ethical investments and review a couple of investments that fit into this sector.

"The strategy is an absolute return alternative investment designed to outperform traditional equity-based investments in terms of annualized risk. This is achieved by investing in a portfolio of loan and leasing agreements carefully managing individual client and sector asset allocation risk which generates a steady income stream with a low default risk both on individual cases and the wider asset class."

The Perstige Alternative Finance fact sheet goes on to

demonstrate a compound return of 8.4% since 2000 compared

with a UK Bank Rate return of 3.7% and the MSCI World index

return of 1.0%. Therefore, this is a type of investment worth

considering and we include it in our Ethical Investment range of

products.

The second investment that we review today is Coral Student

Portfolio. This portfolio avoids all the unethical industries and

invests instead in companies or funds that in turn invest in

student accommodation in the UK. From the portfolio fact

sheet the portfolio was launched in March 2009 and has shown

19.91% growth since then.

The fact sheet gives the reasons behind the portfolio are that

"Student accommodation remains a robust and resilient asset

class with demonstrably strong fundamentals;" Therefore this

would be a good investment to consider as part of any

investment portfolio and so we include it in our Ethical

Investment range of products.

These two examples show the type of return that Light Green

Ethical Investments can give and this is why they are considered

the mainstream of the Ethical Investing.
