SAVE MONEY WHEN YOU’RE DEAD – BE BURIED IN A CARDBOARD COFFIN!A new survey carried out by app provider iFuneral reveals some interesting trends around the country towards funeral arrangements with more and more people opting for less traditional burials.

A fifth of over 55s would choose burial in a cardboard casket and people are increasingly demanding no flowers and brightly coloured clothes at their funeral.

Many are also opting for a non-religious ceremony (17%), particularly in the north east (24%) and Scotland where a fifth of canny scots would choose to be buried in a cardboard coffin. The survey reveals a growing demand for woven caskets with one in ten trendy southerners leading the way with this eco solution.

The older one gets the more likely one is to demand that no one should wear black (21%) and instead wear brightly coloured clothes (19%). In the south west 22% say leave the black in the wardrobe.

Around a quarter of those in the north east would opt for a cardboard coffin but in Northern Ireland they are sticking to the traditional route with a third requiring a traditional coffin and the majority preferring a religious ceremony.

Around a fifth of the over 55s are also sure where they would like their ashes to be scattered.

Another growing trend, les by the East Midlands (14%), appears to be the request for no flowers at a funeral.

Introducing iFuneral:Now for the first time an iPhone App puts YOU in control of your final appearance and ensures that your wishes are known - from the songs you’d like played at the ceremony to dress codes, coffin styles and cortege arrangements. It then communicates your wishes to next of kin.People can also log details of law firms, insurers or pre-payment plans, charities they wish to support, preferred funeral directors and bereavement counsellors. This makes for the swift location of legal documents, such as wills, and allows grieving relatives to tie up administrational processes simply and easily with minimal distress. Not only can you state your religion and opt for burial or cremation, but also:

Choose flowers and music for the ceremony (with the option of adding tracks from iTunes)

Add any special requests (visit www.on-msn.com/NgHYXh) to check out the top ten bizarre celebrity funeral requests for some ideas!)

It’s also a bit of fun, after all it’s your funeral!

Hi Sinitta, thanks so much for opening Liverpool Fashion Week, what are you looking forward to the most about coming up to Liverpool?Mostly meeting Liverpudlians and soaking up the atmosphere.

How would you describe your style? And how has your attitude to style changed, if it has, since becoming a mum?I'm petite, so when it comes to clothing, fitted and tailored usually works best for me. Long dresses are the way forward – I’ve decided that while I’d love to, I can’t wear short styles forever, and long gowns are so classy!

Where do you like to shop? What is the biggest splurge you have ever had on your credit cards?I love to shop in little boutiques selling unknown designers, but I also buy from the High Street and then have the pieces altered to give them my own spin and make them completely unique.

Have you any plans to go back in the recording studio? Funny you say this - I am recording at the moment! I want to kick off with a new version of my hit Toyboy – the song is a real floor filler!

Going back to the 80s, I saw an episode of cribs and you have all your original outfits in your bedroom, do you ever dress up at home in them?[Laughs] No I don't, but my daughter Magdalena is always in that particular closet. She calls them my ‘fun clothes.’

What music do you like to listen to now? What's playing on your iPad now?I'm still in holiday mode, so Welcome to St Tropez by Bam Bam and the New Leona Lewis song FireFly. I’m also still loving Domino by Jessie J!, Wings

by Little Mix is such a grower, and I could listen to Paradise by Coldplay forever!

How do you think the industry has changed with the likes of The X Factor?I think for the better, in that the show has made so many new international artists. UK acts are storming America now which is a great thing. We deserve to be the head and not the tail of the music scene!

Talking of which, what are you looking forward to the most about the new series? I'm most looking forward to working across both the shows simultaneously and want them to showcase the best undiscovered talent in a cool and interesting way, so people can relate to the artists and enjoy their talent.

Who has been the most surprising contestants to date?I guess, Jedward! Who knew they would still be around?! But obviously One Direction becoming the biggest UK boy band ever is mindblowing, I'm proud to know I played a small part by being their co-mentor.

You are continually described as 1 of the nicest people in the industry, what keeps you grounded? That's so nice! Thank you! I guess my Mom brought you up to respect and love people and I just do!

What makes you laugh? Have you ever played a practical joke on anyone and what was it?I am a real giggler! My most famous tricks have been on Simon - I suppose the Banana Leaf bikini on The X Factor was the best. I'll never forget the look on his face when I walked out! We always play tricks on each other; laughter is key to our friendship.

Talk us through a typical day in your life If it’s term time then it starts with Zac

and Magdalena getting ready and a crazy busy breakfast time before we head off to school. After that it could be anything from being on breakfast TV, doing a yoga class, meetings at The Arts Club, rehearsing at Dryland or Dance Attic, or sitting in the office working on new artists or format ideas. In the evening, I could be performing at a festival, attending a premiere, working on The X Factor, cooking dinner and watching TV or even flying to LA! With my workload its pretty hard to give a typical day really!

Do you follow a specific beauty routine?Always floss, brush, wash and moisturise - no matter how late it may make you!

What charitable causes are close to your heart? The Caudwell Children’s Charity is a cause very dear to me. I regularly work with them and have become good friends with the founders John & Claire and the whole team. They are inspirational and devoted, and they make it fun too.

Tell us about your experience in the jungle (top respect for you putting that huge insect in your mouth), what did you learn from it all?Thank you! I think I learned what a baby I was!! I learnt that I REALLY don't like creepy crawlies! Even more than I had realised! But I also learnt that I mustn’t let fear rule my life and stop me from doing things.

If you were granted 3 wishes what would they be?Gosh, for perfect health, wealth and happiness for my entire family.

What is your proudest achievement? Adopting Zac and Magdalena. They are amazing, loving children and as hard as it is sometimes, they have made my life so much richer.

Where is your favourite place in the world (after Liverpool of course!) Somewhere in the ocean on the yacht Slipstream, at peace.

Finally what can the people of Liverpool expect from you at Liverpool Fashion Week? Expect me to fully embrace the entire experience. I'm honoured and excited to be asked and want to make sure we all have the most stylish, crazy and glamourous time! And to come home speaking like a Liverpudlian!

So this month I headed off to the recently refurbished Genting Club Queen Street with my guests for dinner

club promoter and legendary Dj Pez Tellet and Big Brother Supremo Craig Philips to sample the food and atmosphere at the new Fahrenheit Bar & Grill. We all kicked off with some olives and crusty bread with olive oil. Our choice of starters varied from king prawns with chorizo and spring onions for Craig, Pez opted for the king prawn cocktail, and I went for the classic pan seared chicken livers with smoked bacon in mederia. While we were waiting for our starters, we couldn't help but notice the eclectic mix of music which piped through the speakers ranging from Plan B to Donna Summer and Jacko to McFly. So good. The seared Livers were beautiful and creamy and complimented the smokey bacon perfectly, and all topped off with freshly sliced baked bread to mop up the delicious sauce. Craig’s' special king prawn with chilli and chorizo had a fantastic spicy garlic kick to it. And Pez's good old fashioned king prawn cocktail was everything a prawn cocktail should be. The king prawns were like mini lobsters. Our main courses included salmon supreme with an asian salad for Craig. Pez had a 16oz rib eye and I chose a lemon garlic chicken with dauphinoise potatoes. Yup, I was Mr.Garlic-Breath come desert time Craig loved his salmon - good sized portion, fresh and perfectly cooked. The warm salad of vegetables in asian spice complimented the salmon perfectly. Pez adored his 16oz gut busting rib eye. When his main course arrived, his eyes nearly popped out of his head - What a BIG surprise. There was an awful lot of meat with the tastiest peppercorn sauce he had tasted in years. The steak was cooked just as he liked it and as for the chunky fries, they were like chips meeting roasties.I had the breast of farmed chicken, miost, crispy skin on a bed of green vegetables, together with the dauphinoise potatoes was a well-balanced dish both in flavours and texture. At the end of our meals we were all very full, but Andrew the friendly waiter persuaded us 3 boys to share a chocolate fondant - a house speciality, oh boy, chocolate lovers prepare for heaven, crispy on the outside and goooey, runny chocolate served with a scoop of top quality vanilla ice cream. It was a top night, with great food and great company. You can see a lot of thought has been put into the refurbishment with beautiful furnishings and a good distance between the restaurant and casino. May I also add that the selection of wines on offer were second to none. Make a night of it with you and your partner or a group of friends. Great Food and a bit of a flutter - sounds like the makings top night out.

Merseyside’s favourite bars, restaurants and food and

drink producers were announced recently at the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival Awards. The prestigious awards ceremony, which took place at the city’s Olympia, was hosted by Matthew Fort, food critic at The Guardian and judge on the BBC’s Great British Menu.

It was a double celebration for the team at Delifonseca, who scooped two awards, Liverpool’s Favourite Restaurant (Stanley Street) and Most Family Friendly Restaurant (Dockside) - at the awards ceremony, which was the culmination of the fifth Liverpool Food & Drink Festival.

Catalan restaurant, Lunya, scooped the award for the city’s Favourite European Restaurant, while Sapporo Teppanyaki was named Favourite International Restaurant. Mango in Wavertree won the title of Liverpool’s Favourite Small or Independent restaurant and Bold Street Coffee scooped the title of Favourite Independent Café or Coffee Shop.

The team at Bistro Pierre were delighted to pick up the title of Outstanding Customer Service, while the London Carriage Works are celebrating scooping the award for the city’s Finest Wine List. The Liverpool Cheese Company was voted Festival Producer of Excellence and the renowned Ship & Mitre scooped the award for the city’s Favourite Bar or Pub.

Joining the ‘crème de la crème’ of Liverpool’s food and drink industry was 31-year old Thomas Sumner, a civil servant from Netherton, who was crowned winner of the Great Merseyside Bake off. Thomas fought off tough competition during the contest, which was judged by Wirral born Great British Bake off judge Paul Hollywood, during the Liverpool Food & Drink Festival launch weekend (1-2 September). He was presented with his gong by Matthew Fort.

The French-themed awards ceremony included a drinks reception, entertainment and a three course meal, served by Bistro Qui?.

Denise Harris, organiser of the Liverpool Food & Drink Festival and Awards, said: “More than 6,000 members of the public voted in this year’s awards, which are a real celebration of the festival and our city’s food and drink industry. Winning one of these awards really is a seal of approval from the people who matter the most.

“It was a fantastic evening and we were delighted that Matthew Fort was able to join us to present the awards.”

Having took some time off work to site see in Liverpool, we were pleased to find ourselves down the Albert Dock, home of The Tate, The Liverpool Museum and the “What’s Cooking” Bar and Grill. Having built up a real appetite we headed to the Bar and Grill for a feast of a lunch. “Whats Cooking” is a 120 seat mex tex style restaurant serving American, Mexican and some soon to be British classics. The venue is light and open and the staff more than happy to talk you through the menu choices. The restaurant serves an array of coffees for the morning trade with a lunch time menu starting at 12noon until 3pm with specials and a great set lunch time collection.

So you're the 1st hiphop act in the UK to land an international contract - how did that feel?Well amazing!! We're with Guardian Angels Records/managed by Sandi Thom & hoping to hit America/go international VERY soon ;)Is there a message in your lyrics?Yeah definately. We try to write about things that people can relate to. There's always a message. Not going to lie, this album's main concept is about females though. The record basically sums up all the emotions you can go through in a relationship :)

Who have you been recording with?Like everybody!! We worked with Eminem's band D-12 on a couple of songs & also old school Rock band Nazareth on a couple on the new Album. We also worked with Singers Luke Bingham, Young Nate & Daniel De Bourg too who gave our Album a phase of RnB. Last but not least our Label mate & Boss Sandi Thom is on the Album too - The track we did with Sandi was the first we recorded & is fittingly going to be the Debut Single - 'The Love Is Gone' out now [October 8th] :)

Tell us about your album?SHY: Our Album - it's entitled 'Before Too Long' & it's out in January next year. We'd honestly say it's got at least one song on it for everyone. It's got Rock, Rap, HipHop, R&B, Dance, House, Dubstep all on the one Album! One thing we can guarantee is that it sounds like nothing else you've ever heard!!DRS: Expect to be surprised when you hear it & expect to want to laugh/cry/hit us all at the same time! We took time out to make our own sound & we're sure you will love it as much as our Label do!

What are you plans for the next 6 months? We've a busy 6 months ahead of us which is all kicking off around now - we'll be doing loads of promo, Radio & TV up to the Album coming out in January & we expect to Tour early next year!We record/write all day everyday, any chance we get, so we'll be doing a whole lot of that in the next few months in between promoting the Album due out in January. We'll maybe even come up with another Album between now & January!! So expect 2013 to be a big year for us too!And of course we're performing at the Closing ceremony of The Liverpool Fashion Week on October 20th!

How will you be spending Christmas?Christmas! Normally hungover but at home with the Family of course. We'll be busy doing promotion throughout December though but we don't mind. Music isn't like work

to us at all. We love every minute of everything we do music-wise!

Who is your biggest influence?SHY: Personally mines is an MC called Guru. R.I.P! He talks so much sense in his lyrics. Which I hope I do!DRS: It has to be Eminem. Which is why it's such a big deal for us to work with D-12 on our Album!

What is your rider when you perform?Ahh, where do we start.. em a pink elephant with a purple afro, a selection of caps to choose from & runner a must! Nah, as long as there's a crate of beer & a bottle of voddie we're happy!

Do you shun celebrity culture?Nah, not at all! We're all for it! Being fresh out of the underground you would think we would though! We do/will embrace it ;)

What is your most extravagant purchase to date?DRS: I spent a hundred and odd quite on a Sean John Denim Jacket when I was about 17 then took it back to the shop when I realised that I didn’t look as cool as P.Diddy in it!

What is the best thing about being a hiphop artist? The best thing about being a HipHop Artist is having what is like the ultimate voice. You're able to say anything in Hiphop no matter how ridiculous, rude or offensive & it's mostly passed off as cool!! Nobody is shocked if a HipHop Artist says something contraversial. We can get away with it more than other Artists :)

What is the silliest interview question ever asked to you? This question ;)

What makes you laugh?Peep Show. Best thing on TV anyway & we're always watching all the series' back to back on a loop. We're both huge fans!!

What inspires you?DRS: Pretty much everything inspires us! People, situations, ! We don't just write in first person although this Album is very much a story of the past few years we spent making it. We like to place ourselves in other people's shoes & write from their perspective too.SHY: Yeah most things! I actually text any lyrics or song ideas I come up with to myself!!! Sounds SAD but when i've an idea it's quick to lise it & texts is the quickest App to get into!!

SHY & DRS WILL BE PERFORMING AT LIVERPOOL FASHION WEEK ON SATURDAY 20 OCTOBER.

salon.

Diploma awards For Hair Colouring.Chester's finest luxury hotel, venue and spa certainly lived up to its name when I went along for their signature facial at The Spa at Hoole Hall.Booked into to be pampered by their top therapist, Katie, I was handed a fluffy robe and slippers and a locker key. Slipping into the robe I journeyed upstairs into the sensuous sanctuary of the spa which takes up a whole floor. I was greeted at reception and led to the relaxation room which aims to bring together fire, earth water and air to help reach a state of total harmony. It worked. Then Katie invited me into my spa room, along a vast corridor of private rooms I was taken into a sophisticated and secluded room and lay on the bed.The lights dimmed and as I slid under the towel and closed my eyes, the aroma of essential oils and calming music relaxed me as Katie went to work on cleansing, toning and exfoliating and moisturising to renew fresh skin cells. As she eased into her role I caught myself drifting in and out of a mesmorised slumber. The treatment lasted 45 minutes but felt like hours, I was given time to awaken and when I looked in the mirror I was amazed at how my skin glowed and appeared more youthful. I was astonished.Whether it's one treatment or a full day of pampering, the experience will leave you uplifted and rejuvinated. It was an amazing experience and left me yearning to spend more time there. I think a full day of treament will be on my agenda very soon.

GOODNESS ME, IS IT PANTO TIME ALREADY? OH YES IT IS!! Amanda Moss chats to the cast of Peter Pan at the Floral Pavillion

On a blustery Autumn day the cast of Peter Pan rolled into town. It is directed by Anthony Williams whose career spans a very broad spectrum of productions. His credits includeContender (worldpremier and national tour),

A Christmas Carol (national tour) and Oliver (Aberystwyth Arts Centre) Actor Gary Turner, best known for his roles in Families and Emmerdale, plays the dastardly and dashing Captain Hook, while Channel 5's Milkshake presenter and previous pop boy band member of D-side, Derek Moran plays his goodheartedly assistant Smee.

What do you love about panto?Gary: It's very special for me because it is a way of introducing children to the theatre and giving their first experience of the theatre. I am very passionate abut people coming and getting something out it it. It is an honest land, the theatre and it is real. The audience are there and I love the interaction with themDerek: Oh I am so excited, I have worked for this company for the last four years and I love them, they are the best, they really go the extra mile in pantos and this part is so much fin, i can't wait. There are flying acrobats, rollerskates, I will be falling on my face and nodoubt be on crutches by the end of it!

How will you be dealing with the hecklers?Oh I hope a witty one liner will sprint to mind and we can laugh about it, or I will ignore it. One time I was in panto and a group of scouts wouldn't shut up, they were ruining it for the rest of the theatre, because the performance then becomes about them rather than the people on stage. In between scenes I got out of costume, ran over t them and read them the riot act!

What is your favourite tole?Gary: I always seem to play Captain Hook or King Rat. It's good fun and I love working with UK Productions, they work really hard and bring a lot

of energy to the production. It will be a great spectacle Derek: This one because I have the most comfortable costume, it's like a big onesy. My last costume had four pairs of leggings and 5 costume changes, this is nice and simple and I can breathe in it.

Do you have children?Gary: I have 2 daughters, Betsy, 4, and Lola, 2. so when this finishes I will be going home to be daddy day care while my wife is an actress in Hollyoaks.Derek: No but my Milshake audience are my babies and I absolutely love children. I look after my nephews and nieces and they are so easy to relate to.

What are your plans for the new year?Gary: I quite like the idea of a one man show, the trouble is every time I write it is usually rubbish. I do like comedyDerek: I quite fancy having Dermot o Leary's job... but really, I am very happy with Milkshake, I am very very lucky. I am hoping to get a flight to Ireland late on Christmas eve, just for the 24 hours so i can see my mum and brothers and sisters.

What do you want for Christmas?Derek: I want to buy myself a flat and spend money on things I shouldn't, like real Egyptian cotton sheets and stuff like that. But seriously, I just want my family to be happy and healthy and that's that.

Is there anyone you would like to act alongside?Gary: Of course I would like to get into films and work with the Hollywood greats: De Niro and Al Pacino, who wouldn't? But i's a huge leap from panto!Derek: I just like to see how life takes me. I don't have any formal training as an actor. My motto is "You have to fake it to make it." I have performed on Top of the Pops and had a number one album in japan which was amazing, I loved Japan... I just go with the flow.

Who are you?Click22 – up and coming urban music duo, performers and songwriters.

Why did you form a band?We were best friends in primary school who lost touch when we moved to different secondary schools. We got back in touch over facebook and realised we both had a passion for making and performing music. We met up and over a few drinks Click22 was formed and we haven’t stopped since.

What are your backgrounds?Owen Davies (Prospket) – 21 year old songwriter, producer and rapper, who co writes for Click22 and also for other artists. Started song writing at 15, left school at 16 and has been working on music ever since. Casey Jermaine Morrison (Ceejay) - 21 year old songwriter, producer, singer & street dancer, co writing for Click22 and also for other artists. Left school at 16 and went onto do performing arts in college. Won under 18 UDO street dance championship in 2008.

Describe your musical style?Hard to describe as we try to be

unique and as creative as possible when we write, we gain influence from all genres of music.

Would you ever audition on a reality TV show?No as we think it can on occasion destroy people’s hopes and dreams. We also feel taking part in reality TV would not allow us to fulfil our own creativity; we are currently working with an amazing group of producers with whom we work as one team.

What is your dream? To be recognised for what we do best – song writers and performers

How long have you been working on your album?12 months and currently have 9 tracks completed with couple still in pipeline.

Who would you like to collaborate with?B.O.B, Ryan Leslie, Eminem, Adele.

When you get your first royalties from your album sales what will you spend it on?A holiday and big party!

Describe a day in your life?No day is the same, depends on our creative flow – we could spend couple of days writing a song or 30 minutes. We also spend time on social networking sites promoting Click22.

What are your plans for the next 6 months, work wise?Liverpool Fashion Week Closing Night – Sat 20th Oct at the Hilton HotelWe also have other gigs in the pipeline and will also be restarting the Click22 school promotional tour.We will be finishing of our album and carrying out promotional work which will come with this. We expect the next 6 months to be very exciting and extremely busy.

How will you be spending christmas? With family and friends and a few gigs along the way.

Do you come from a musical background? Both sides of my family are extremely musical. I learned to play the guitar, piano and trombone when i was younger. Im a relative late comer to the business side of the industry, I used to fly helicopters for a living.

What is the name behind Guardian Angel Records? Our motto is - ‘To guide and protect’. Its a harsh landscape out there, my job is to make sure we serve our artists as best we can by giving them a toolbox, filling it with everything they’ll need and showing them how to use it.

Tell us about your sister.Sandi’s 4th studio album - ‘Flesh and Blood’ has just been released. It was produced by Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes and features a stunning duet with Buffy Sainte-Marie. She tours the UK in November.

What do you look for when signing someone to Guardian Angel Records? Talent, first and foremost. A solid, hard work ethic is also essential. As an indy label its imperative we invest in the right people. Our new act Shy & DRS release their first single - ‘The Love is Gone’ on October 8th, they’ve got what it takes to make some serious noise next year.

Would you recommend an artist auditions for The X Factor to help them get a break?I really cant say yay or nay. Its down to the individual. we live in a celebrity obsessed culture so if you want your 15 mins, its an option. The X-Factor is a TV show, its a soap-opera and has very little to do with real music. The traditional route is a far tougher road to travel, with no guarantees of success at the end. To walk this path you need an unyielding passion for music to go the distance.

TOWIES's SAM FAIERS

She may be only 21years old but TOWIE star Sam Faiers is already a smart businesswoman. Turning up in Liverpool to promote her pop up boutique, Minnies, at the Metquarter last month, she chatted to editor Amanda Moss

Tell us about MinniesWe set it up over a year ago in April and then we decided to take it around the country to show all our customers. Me and my brother Billy find that a lot of Liverpool girls love to get dressed up, they're really girlie. And it fits in perfectly with them.

When you signed up for the first series of TOWIE did you expect it to be so popular?Oh my god no! We never thought it at all, when we filmed it we just thought it would be a bit o ffun with our friends and family, we never expected the response we got, I mean we're on the 7th series now. One day we were living normal lives and the next day we were all over the papers and the magazines, it was massive overnight.

How has your life changed?Well obviously it has enabled me to set up my business, Minis and I have bought my own house. But at the same time I have had to grow up a lot as well. But my mum keeps me grounded, she has always said from day one to stay grounded and stay true to myself. And always have manners and be polite.

What excites you?I love red carpet events and I get totally star struck. The most recent time was when I attended the NTA Awards and Justin Bieber was there, Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell, I was there with my phone taking pics!

What is your style? You know what you see on the show, that's me, I like my dresses and heels but I also like being really comfy in skinny jeans and converse or flip flops. I go for comfort every time.

Do you feel pressure to follow a beauty routine and diet? Not really. I always get my nails shellaced and have HDbrows, that's it really. I get my roots done at home and eat sensible. My mum makes everything for me although I did make a nice roast the other day.

What can we expect from the new series?Well we have a new management so we just have tokeep an eye on the long filming hours. i love doing what I do though and have absolutely not regrets.

What are you plans for Christmas?New York, can't wait!

Hello Lifestyle readers! As we head into autumn, there’s no slowing down for me. I have some new and exciting products underway that I have been looking forward to sharing with you!

I have been continuing my work with Wagner Spraytech, supporting their amazing painting solutions. The brand makes the task of interior painting so much easier with all sorts of clever gadgets and innovative ideas that help you achieve a professional finish every time you decorate. I’m looking forward to appearing with them again on the Ideal World shopping channel at the beginning of October. We will be showcasing their newest products and it will be an amazing opportunity to show you their great painting solutions.

Despite temperatures falling as we head into October, there is no excuse not to get outside and enjoy the beautiful autumn season. You can make sure that you stay warm and comfortable with the fantastic sock brand, Heat Holders. These are the ultimate in thermal socks and their unique combination of innovative thermal technology means that they will always keep cold feet at bay! They are brilliant for when you are out and about, or just relaxing at home. I love how many different colours there are, as well as Wellington boot, slipper and ski sock styles. Check out the socks on the Heat Holders Youtube channel www.youtube.com/heatholderssocks.

I was thrilled to take part in the Professional Builder Tool Fair 2012 at the end of September, at the Ricoh arena in Coventry. It was a great opportunity to work with Blåkläder Workwear again. They are such an amazing brand, and their clothing really is the very best for construction professionals, engineers and anyone who needs to work in extreme conditions. For me, safety and comfort are a top priority to make sure that I perform as well as possible on the job and Blåkläder always fulfils both of these criteria.

I also had the chance to appear on BBC Radio 4, talking about the phenomenon that is reality television. I appeared alongside Sir Peter Bazalgette, the Endemol boss and representatives from Channel 4. It was great, as always, to talk about Big Brother and how reality television has developed over the years, changing the landscape of televison.

All the best, Craig

Cut and Fit Corner ShelvesDesigning your own shapes and sizes for your corner shelves is really quick and looks great.

STAGE ONE When you have chosen your location measure up the sizes you require and mark up on the MDF sheet. You can use the corners of the sheet for the corners of the shelves and then you just need to create a round front to the shelf. A great way of forming this is to stretch a string line from the corner of your shelf, tie I pencil to the other end and move from side to side in a kind of arch shape.

STAGE TWO Take your jigsaw and cut along your curved line, then using your router along your cut edge to form a nice patented bevelled edge to give it a true shelf finish. Always use your safety glasses and mask when cutting such materials and try to work out side for better ventilation.

STAGE THREE Cut some 2” X 1” timber down to size about 30mm shorter than the length of your shelves and shape the edge it will look a bit nicer, drill some clearance holes in the timber ready to mark up on the Walls where the shelf is to be fixed to.

STAGE FOUR Use your spirit level to make sure it’s true to the wall, mark up and drill some 6mm holes in the wall using the masonry drill bit and the drill set on the hammer action setting, apply the raw plugs and screw the battens firmly to the wall using the 50mm screws. Now, you’re ready to finally fit the shelf.

STAGE FIVE Run a line of glue along the top of both battens and lay the cornered shelf directly on top of the batten, gently press it down until it holds in place. Finally, the shelves should be painted or stained to suit.

When thinking of student accommodation, people

may be forgiven for conjuring up images of the scruffy lodgings of ‘The Young Ones’. However, times have changed, and although the anarchy and offbeat humour that comes hand in hand with students may still be alive today, those ready for University at the start of a semester are seeking a higher class of accommodation to suit their needs.

It’s no longer a couch in a room strewn with cans of cider, but luxury living that students are now looking for, with good bars and eateries within a close distance to boot.

Zest lets are proud to represent 23 Aigburth Drive, a new student property consisting of 18 rooms, all strewn with the latest mod cons to suit any student looking for the same amenities available at home.

Built in 1878, the house was built on left over land from Sefton Park by local builder George Morton for him and his family.

It was with the Morton family that the house first became a vessel to carry a student, with George’s eldest son studying to become an architect and follow in the footsteps of his father.

The sheer scale of the house dictated that the family would need help,

with them employing two domestic servants as well as a nurse to help with Albert, the baby of the family.

In 1883 ownership of the house changed hands and Henry Holbry Hammond, a Latin American Merchant, who renamed the house to ‘Valparaiso Cottage’, after spending time travelling around Chile and Peru.

The home has always held very wealthy occupants, with the Hammond family housing 5 servants to service the family and look after the vast property.

The final person to live in the house as one unit was Charles Thomas Taylor, a timber merchant who moved in in 1918 and was resident for 5 years, after which the property was divided into 5 individual apartments.

The houses are at the perimeter of Sefton Park and were originally billed as ‘Grand Victorian Villas’. Allowing for a clever mixture of old merged with new, the house still retains original common characteristics that come hand in hand with houses of this style, including bay windows, stairs to the front door, a cone shaped turret and private terraced gardens.

Inside the beauty of the architecture of the time is still evident with ornate ceilings and original fireplaces all lovingly restored.

For prospective student tenants who aren’t familiar with Sefton Park should think back to the film ‘Mary Poppins’, as this is the closest you will get to the houses in this area.

It really is like slipping back into time, until you enter the property and it is decked from head to toe with everything that the modern student could need.

Amenities include fully furnished bedrooms with bed, wardrobe and desk, WiFi for Facebook breaks from studying, five cookers and ovens to prepare the obvious beans on toast, fridge freezers and lockable cupboards for each apartment, because there is nothing more annoying than coming back from a night out craving crisps to find out someone has secretly munched them.

The houses are also within walking

distance of Lark Lanes trendy bars and restaurants, providing a refreshing change to Liverpool City Centre.

Security conscious tenants will be pleased to know that there are electric gates, secure parking and CCTV that is monitored for 24 hours a day, a modern day indulgence that people vary rarely have the opportunity to take advantage of, which also promises extra peace of mind for worried parents back at home.

From a house owned by rich merchants and passed from family to family, it seems fitting that the property will now be a perfect living environment for the future merchants of today.

Joe McElderry has been one busy boy. He only won X Factor in 2009 and here he is already with his fourth album! Admittedly he did have a shaky start when Simon Cowell fell out of love with him and then unceremoniously dropped him from his label! But with hard work Joe bounced back to become the first ever X-Factor contestant to score four Top 20 albums with the release of 'Here's What I Believe.'

Hi Joe congrats on the new album and the new single “Here’s what I believe.” I heard that you wrote this track with Marcella Detroit, of Shakespeare’s Sister. What was is like working with her?Incredible! She’s such an incredible musician. I was really nervous about working with her because she’s such a respected songwriter, but we went into the studio and just talked. We chatted about everyday things, relationships and together we

decided we’d write a really good break up song. So that’s how the song came about.

Well now you’ve said that, I’ve got to ask is it written from your personal experience?(He laughs) Yes it is written from personal experience about a recent breakup with my partner. I always start from my own experiences, it means a lot more as that’s what I know best and in the end it sounds more real, whether it’s a break-up song or a love

song. I want to write about things that people can relate to. Everybody’s broken up with somebody.

2011 was a huge success for you in the classical world, what has made you return to pop?I came into classical really late. It kind of just made sense to pay homage to what I’ve learned for the show, Popstar to Operastar. Within days of winning I was approached by Universal Music to record a classical album, and incredibly, it did really well! But my true heart is with pop music. I will do classical again in the future as I enjoyed it so much, there’s more for me to explore there too. But for now I’m strictly pop!

For some reason you haven’t been shown in the latest X Factor promotions as one of the past success stories and Shane Ward has taken to twitter to air his views on being snubbed. How do you feel about it?It doesn’t bother me, I’m not on Simon’s label anymore so I wouldn’t expect him to promote me. It was great to be initially signed to Simon’s label but if he doesn’t feel the same way about me then you would have to ask him why. If they want to erase the fact that I won X Factor or try and hide it then that’s up to them, I don’t care.

You won the 2009 X factor, but now it’s three years later and the show is still going, albeit not with as many viewers, what do you think the future holds for the next x factor winner? And are you watching it?Erm – (big pause!) no, I’m not watching, but that’s because I’m busy touring and promoting my new album. The show is always going to be as strong as the contestants in it. Personally I’m really proud to have come from X Factor. But no matter how well you do on the show that’s only the beginning. Any X Factor contestant and future winner will find the same as me; the show opens doors and incredible opportunities for you but you still have to work really hard and show your commitment to get any further. I believe that you only get success through hard work and I want to be the best that I can be.

For this month’s issue Liv Stringer vintage fashionista/blogger

(http://filthfashion.tumblr.com/) from the Wirral shares her fashion must haves and tips combining vintage clothing with high street labels.

My new addiction is bum bags. A few months ago I would have shot down the idea of sporting a bum bag this summer. However, having just been on holiday to Ibiza I can honestly say that my bum bag was the one thing I could not have done without. Partying until the early hours, a bum bag was a must have and I would say the majority of people in the clubs had one too.

One of my favourite places for shopping has to be Leeds. As my sister goes to University there I get to raid its shops most weekends. Blue Rinse for me is my haven. I can easily spend the day looking through rail after rail of vintage clothing. Mega. The last time I went I noticed a wall full of bum bags and I instantly fell in love with mine. Classic black leather. I love

the fact it can fold down with lots of compartments so that I can pack it with my makeup and bits for a night out without having to worry about losing anything or carrying a bag. I would say that bum bags are accessible for any outfit and I would recommend anyone who is planning to go to Ibiza or to any festivals to go out and get one. Why not check out Blue Rinse’s website and get yours... (www.bluerinseleeds.co.uk/index.php)

Luxury boutique Hotel becomes only five-star rated hotel in Merseyside

The team at Hillbark Hotel & Spa are celebrating their highest accolade to date in being named the only five-star rated hotel in the Liverpool City Region. Operated by Contessa Hotels, the lavish Grade II listed Hillbark Hotel has been awarded five stars following an inspection by the AA Tourism authority; one of the governing boards for hotel star ratings.

Amplifying this impressive accolade, the boutique manor is also the smallest hotel to be awarded five stars in the UK- positioning the brand side-by-side international names in luxury accommodation.

The AA’s five-star criteria are based on the exceptional services and facilities that are provided for guests, including the hospitality of the staff, food quality and cleanliness. The Contessa team underwent a rigorous quality assessment where every aspect of the hotel came under scrutiny, including the staff and management.

Chris Meaden, Wirral Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Leisure comments; "Huge congratulations to Craig, Lisa and all the team at Hillbark Hotel in Royden Park for achieving the city region's first five star hotel grading. This is brilliant news for Wirral's tourism offer and growing economy. I know this has taken an enormous amount of hard work, commitment and investment to achieve, particularly in the current economic climate, however their dedication to excellence has now paid off.”

Opened in 2002 Contessa Hotels, the hotel is set in 250 acres of beautiful Wirral parkland, overlooking the scenic Dee estuary. The grand estate boasts 18 individually designed bedrooms and suites, a choice of three restaurants including fine dining at Stewart Warner at Hillbark from award-winning executive chef Stewart Warner and a luxurious spa. Having just arrived back in the UK after a month travelling around Asia, friends have asked me what

stands out most about your trip and I say the contentment of the people I met and although they have little materially they have an abundance of joy and pleasure in their lives and feel good about themselves.

The UK is one of the most advanced societies in the world and yet I see so many people in my work and general life that suffer with low self esteem. It astonishes me how many people feel that when they own this, or achieve that, or lose this weight or succeed at this they will feel better about themselves. They attach feeling good to STUFF. I am all for goals and planning ahead, however you can feel good about yourself any time you choose to, and that’s the key, it’s a CHOICE, it’s an ATTITUDE, a way of thinking.

You can ESTEEM yourself anytime you like and only YOU can truly do it. Self esteem is our overall evaluation of who we are. It’s not linked to what we own, or how much we earn, these are linked to Ego, which is our false self. Over eating, over drinking can be linked to low self esteem. By definition when we truly value ourselves we look after ourselves because we respect ourselves.

How much are you worth?? How much is the breath you take worth?Insurers tell me that your body parts are worth a fortune, how about £250,000 for your eyesight, £200,000 for your earring, £62,500 for a thumb, £125,000 for hand, £250,000 for your feet, £300,000 for a leg. I think you get the point.

What price would you put on your creativity, your love, your thoughts, your compassion, your friendship, your life!!!! It’s safe to say that all the money in the world can’t pay for an extra breath.

We wouldn’t talk to our friends the way we sometimes talk to our selves; you know the little voice inside our head. Yes we all have one! The criticisms, the judgements and the accusations we can put on ourselves from time to time.

You are magnificent creation and endless abilities and opportunities. Plan ahead yes, set goals yes but also choose to appreciate how amazing you are now. Go on, it could transform your life. For further information on self esteem or any of the subjects I’ve written on please contact; [email protected]

Employee rights set to be reduced as government aims to make it easier for employers to dismiss employees

The government is continuing its efforts to reduce employee rights in claims for unfair dismissal in a bid to encourage employers to hire more staff.

Business Secretary Vince Cable has announced plans to reform employment law with his initial plan being to remove the right to claim unfair dismissal altogether. Thankfully, the proposal to abolish unfair dismissal claims altogether has now been abandoned but plans to reduce the amount employees may be awarded as compensation for unfair dismissal are set to proceed.

The current maximum compensation which can be awarded to an employee for unfair dismissal is £72,300. Under the new proposals, this will be reduced to just £26,000 or a year’s pay, whichever is lower. Unlimited compensation in discrimination claims will however still be available. It is likely that more employees will seek to attach a discrimination element to claims for unfair dismissal in a bid to get around the statutory cap.

As well as a reduction in the compensation available to those seeking to claim unfair dismissal, the following proposals are being considered:-

- the introduction of “settlement agreements " allowing employees to waive their employment rights in exchange for a pay off and an agreed reference. Such agreements appear very similar to the current “compromise agreements” however the requirement to seek legal advice on such agreements will be optional rather than compulsory.

- the introduction of Employment Tribunal fees payable by Claimant’s wanting to bring claims. In some cases, fees payable will be in excess of £1,000 to take a case through to hearing. The plans have not yet received parliamentary approval however the introduction of Tribunal fees so far looks set to proceed.

If you require advice and assistance in relation to an unfair dismissal claim or any other aspect of employment law, whether you are an employer or employee, please contact Sarah Nolan at QualitySolicitors Jackson & Canter on 0151 702 8760 or by e-mail to [email protected]

Welcome - well who would’ve thought it - Beverly Macca the Pound Shop shelf stack stacker to

Lifestyle Monthly columnist! Thank you for the kind words about September’s interview. Can’t believe it’s October already, excited for Liverpool Fashion Week. Look out for me giving the models fashion advice backstage.

Been rushed off my feet in Paradise, the shop not the Rhyl sun centre. The number of people wanting to try my Far La has rocketed! Nothing more rewarding that having a man walk up to you and ask to have a sniff. Head office have said my Far La is always the topic of coversation in the boardroom. More new products next month.

I won an award for my sales, a day at the farm and horse riding. Never again, nobody told me you had to wear special clothing. My Timmy Shoos got stuck in the soil and then I couldn’t get up on it. I was sparking like a Primark sale rail as I was riding too with all the static in my tights. Found a quiet corner to have a swig of my Lambrini, next thing I’ve got a pig trying to eat my cankle chain.

Well I am being papped on me till now! My supervisor Fat Sue with the Smart Car (she hasn’t slimmed into it yet) is raging. But I have had to start looking after my appearance more than I did. I’ve ditched ‘Sharm El Sharon’s’ salon ‘Tu Tan Cum In’ for a more upmarket salon. At least their hot stone massage doesn’t involve cooking oil from Aldi, a stone from Sharon’s rockery and a box of swan vestas matches. I’ve also started to watch my weight too with a personal trainer. I’m taking it easy and doing 10 minutes a week at the moment. I’ve cut down on me Lambrini too. I’ll keep you posted on me progress, eat yer heart out Katherine Jenkins.

Well that’s just about me done for this month, isn’t the time flying. We’ll be talking all things Christmas next month. Laters.

HE'S BOLD, HE'S BRASH, HE'S JUST WHAT LIFESTYLE LOVES...... JAIDEN MICHEAL, THE SELF TITLED, "BRITAIN'S MOST BRUTAL BLOGGER."

So its official, I'm Liverpool's hottest magazine's, hottest new columnist! With a reputation that makes Simon Cowell look like Pope John Paul, I thought I'd share to the readers of Lifestyle what's making me cringe each month. But of course I have a real soft side (think Snow White with a skin head and tattoos) so I will be sharing the love for anything that's made me smile.

I would rather rub my face with a brick that watch programmes like Take me out and The Bachelor. These girls really have no class or self respect and most of the lads are total cranks. How many dating shows do we need? Even Gok Wan has got his own dating show. OH PLEASE, I thought he was a stylist? Milking it eh GOk. With a new dating show “coming soon” on ITV2 every other week and e4 now filming one in Essex, it seems dating shows are more of a way to get 15mins of immoral and cringey fame! What happened to the good old dating show, Blind Date? That was about fun, personality and actually meeting someone special. Now it’s just a case of getting on tv, degrading yourself and hoping that you make 50quid for a PA!!!! BRING BACK CILLA!!

Now I’m normally one of those people who defends this show year in year out. Whilst most of my Facebook and twitter are moaning about the sob stories, the annoying judges, the shockingly bad singers, I am saying how entertaining the ‘talent’ show is. NOT this year. The show is dreadful! I can’t cope with the badly edited auditions, the swapping of the judges every 5 farts and the lack of talented singers. One minute we have auditions in front of Geri Halliwell in London(even though she wasn’t in London) Two seconds later, the same singer has just been told by Rita Ora she was fabulous. Confused? Yes,me too. Simon Cowell better get his thinking pants on because this tv show is ready for its encore.

Welcome to what bugs me or what I think is boss.

BUG 1 - Dating shows. BUG 2 - X Factor

BOSS 1 - Mister Lacey

Now we all know I love promoting new talent but this lad is a true inspiration. Aged 27, London born rapper/writer/producer, Mister Lacey was abused as a child which resulted in him spending most of his life in care homes across the UK. When Lacey turned 18 he decided it was time to turn his life around. He began writing and producing his own music. He was soon introduced to Amy Winehouse, who helped him with his music. When his record deal fell through, Lacey ran away to South Central LA for 4 years. Taking time to clear his head and become more focused, he is now living back in London, Lacey is again making music and is also working with foster agencies and studying youth work. A true example of someone who never gave up! Check out www.soundcloud.com/officialmisterlacey and twitter @misterjlacey to see why I predict this rapper will be a big star. Honest lyrics, a distinctive voice and he even uses Tetris tune in one of his songs. LOVE him!

PASS IT ON:GIVE YOUR UNWANTED ITEMS A NEW HOMEHave you ever looked into your wardrobe and wondered how you’ve managed to collect so many clothes? Are you ever going to wear that pair of jeans you bought two years ago, or that jacket which has never been off its hanger?

Hoarding clothes is something a lot of us do – we’ve tried them on, we’ve bought them, it’s hard to let go – even if they don’t fit anymore!

Around 22,000 tonnes of textiles from Merseyside and Halton ends up in landfill each year, an unnecessary expense for you and for the environment. But instead of stressing over storage there are things you can do to de-clutter your home.

First and foremost, if clothes are in good condition, then chances are somebody else will be happy to wear them. If this is the case, then offer them to friends and family, they may get more use out of the items than you do. It’s for this reason that Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority (MRWA) is sponsoring a vintage clothes night at Liverpool Fashion Week in order to raise awareness of textiles reuse and recycling.

MRWA has also teamed up with several charities to form the Merseyside Textile Forum which will help identify and support ways to increase the recycling and reuse of textiles. Local charity shops will always be glad to take items

from you. If you can’t get to a local shop, a lot of charities have textiles banks at supermarket car parks.

Some charities also make door-to-door collections, as do some local councils, so check what services you get at home on your council website.

If you’ve got worn-out clothes that have seen better days then you’ll probably be better off recycling them – even a sock with a hole in is worth recycling. Your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre will have special textile containers that accept all sorts of clothes and footwear, with the fabrics going on to be shredded and reprocessed into new items.

And next time you go clothes shopping ask yourself if you’re really going to wear what you buy, or will it end up gathering dust at the back of your closet.

Liverpool pledges to become age-friendly.

A fashion show took place at the Marina Yatch Club recently to raise funds for Mildmay Hostel for homeless men and Creative Minds charity who record songs written by people who have turned their lives round. The show's aim was to show how wrong are people’s preconceived ideas of who a homeless person is.

Had a few celebs on the show this month; Myleene Klass talked to us about her new online programme bumps babies and beyond aimed at mums. She actually told us a very funny story about how she was in pain, in labour and her partner said ‘I am just going to have to move the car or we will get clamped! ‘

Also chatted to James Corden, (yes him from Gavin and Stacey), and no plans for it coming back just yet, gutted!! He did tell us what he wished he knew about being a dad 6 months ago; which was to put a tissue over his little boys tinky when changing his nappy…yes he has had it in his face!

I went to see ‘I don’t know how she does it’ at cineworld other day, with Sarah Jessica parker, not with her sadly I don’t know her she was on the big screen!! It’s a nice light hearted chick fl ick basically about a full time working mum trying to clinch the deal, be the perfect wife, perfect mother, and well I don’t think it can be done, something has to give dosen’t it? !

Hunky actor Tom Hardy talked about his new movie ‘Warrior’ on the show (I’m only going to see it cos he is such a hottie!) not because I am a massive fan of boxing, however our showbiz expert has told us that it is a really good fi lm, so one us ladies could take our other halves too and not be bored rigid! Cheryl Cole has been back in the papers lately following the return of the X factor US version …how weird was that half way through the programme Cheryl became Nicole? with just one line from new welsh host Steve Jones saying ‘a new city welcomes a new judge’ that was it, personally I preferred Cheryl. Being a fan I tried (sad I know) to copy her new beehive hair do that was in all the papers the other day.

Thank you to Faith and Lucy at Miss Mollys hair salon in Chester for creating the look very glam but I wouldn’t recommend it every Saturday ladies due to the amount of hair I lost and conditioner I had to use!!

Good news for Men sadly not for us ladies ….Man fl u is real …..yes apparently (ridiculous I know), but it seems researchers have looked at the immune systems of male and female mice subjected to different types of infections. Results found that the female mice had twice the amount of infection fi ghting white blood cells as males.

ANGELA JAYANGELA JAYANGELA ANGELA ANGELA Reaching out to the heart

of the community.......Lifestyle Monthly welcomes

Heart FM’s popular breakfast presenter as our regular columnist

At the moment I am loving:Loving these new zaggora hot pants I have been sent…they are supposed to help you drop two jeans sizes in two weeks, by basically making you sweat 80 percent more than normal !…..sounds to good to be true really but il give anything a whirl, will let you know next month if anything happens!

Loving My fake kate middleton ring from Next at £7.50 ! Just wish it was real, well we can pretend!!

Loving cinnamon buns mmm, they are the new teatime treat as we are fed up with cupcakes, enjoy the sugar butter pastry and fat all mixed together!!

Not Loving:Not Loving the new facebook

Not loving the rumours about Mike Tindall feel so sorry for Zara.

Not loving people who think they are your boss when they aren’t!!

Busy ol month and not liking the start of the cold dark early mornings boooo!! So I decided on the show every Friday will be fancy dress fun Fridays, an opportunity for us to mess around (like I did at school!) and dress up, I love it, Spence hates the idea!

‘’Don’t read beauty magazines as they will only make you feel ugly’’, Baz Luhrman once said in the ‘class of 99’ which is true, and this morning it seems so does Twitter! I will explain. It is not the normal procedure for most of us before bed, but for Kim Kardashian it seems it is, a good night message from Twitter means a good night picture!

Kim Kardashian @KimKardashianFinally the day is over! Long day, desperately need to get ready for bed! Nite! http://instagr.am/p/P_Ek3IuS_B/

Now I guess if you’re a man following her it may have made

you smile first thing but for someone like me it just makes you feel pretty ugly- I certainly do not go to sleep looking that gorge, sad thing is I don’t even wake up like that after 12 hours sleep!! Which getting up super early for breakfast its very rare I get 12 hours sleep!!

We are getting worried about Simon Cowell who has said he has had people in to ‘heal his house’ – hope house gets better soon! And Gordon Ramsey has explained to us on heart breakfast why it is important to relax in your old age! With a new cook book out and a tv series Hotel GB coming up he says he’s learned to take his foot off the gas once in a while! I so need a pamper day soon!As I write this I am sat all comfy in my PJ’s in front of the fire, yes the fire and it is only September ridiculous! I have spent the last few hours in the

all new M & S store in Cheshire Oaks... it is huge, the second biggest one in the uk and the largest one built in the last decade! All the staff have I-Pads, and when explaining this to my Nan earlier she cracked me up when she said '' well why do they have to wear pads on their eyes, is it because of all the bright lights in the new store because if it is, that is very dangerous''. Bless her, she is so cute!

I actually want to try the new pasta bar in the store but i am scared i will

like it too much, and i will want to eat there every day! The food hall has so many scrumptious delights and well so does the whole store actually! I really wanted to get their new nude shoes (a copy of Kate Middleton's LK Bennett ones) they are selling like hotcakes, in the last seven days they have sold a pair every two minutes! However I will have to wait, as I did treat myself to a gorgeous green military winter coat, after all, I need it -after summer has, overnight, missed out Autumn and gone straight to Winter! What on earth is going on with the weather!

Already looking forward to checking out all the new trends this season at Liverpool Fashion week- make sure you get your tickets before they all sell out. I am hosting the opening night which I am looking forward to, Sinitta will be there too, time to get your gladrags on and make a night of it girlies! I will see you there.

Lots of love @MissAngelajay xx
