September 2019
Gather! Grow! Go! What ministries do we need to do that will bring people into a saving faith relationship with Jesus, build them up, and bring glory to Jesus? Please be in prayer over this. Every area has its unique needs. The ways to discover the needs of our community are to follow the news, pay attention to the local online conversations, and listen to people. Ask “What would help you?” and then listen. Build relationships. Relationships are the most effective bridge across which the Gospel travels. Once you know the needs, share your ministry ideas with us and how we can go about starting them.
Building Security and Access Cards The exterior sanctuary doors will be replaced and re-keyed sometime this month. Office hours are Monday to Thursday 9 am – 5 pm and Fridays 9 am – 12:30 pm. You can enter the exterior Office entrance door and push the button on the wall
to enter during these hours. If you need access to the church outside of these hours, please fill out an Access Card Acknowledgement Form, located in the church office, and return it to the office with $10 to cover costs. Place your access card in front of the reader by the exterior Office door, and the doors will unlock for you.

Another “school year” has begun in our community. Families, children, and staff
are adjusting to their fall routines. During August and early in September, several
new children joined our program. We have new little ones in our infant room, two’s
room and pre-kindergarten rooms. It is always fun to see their excitement and help
them adjust to a new routine, make friendships, and establish relationships with
their providers. It generally doesn’t take too long for them to feel right at home!
Deuteronomy 6:7 states “You shall teach them diligently to our children and shall talk of them when you sit
in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” We continue to
demonstrate and instruct our little ones about God’s love for them and how he is with them always. We share
Bible stories that help them learn the great stories of God’s love for his people throughout the Bible. This is
the difference between Lord’s Lambs Child Care Center and other centers that are not faith based. Children
in our center have the benefit of ministry being part of their curriculum. Please continue to pray for our
ministry and that all of our children, families and staff grow in their love and trust in our Savior, Christ Jesus.
As we start another new “school year”, we could use the following items:
*all colors and sizes of paper
*stickers
*old calendars (we like to use the pictures for art work)
*any item that you think could be used for art projects
Thank you for your support of Lord’s Lambs. Have a wonderful September!

Midweek
If you have a child between 1st and 8th grade, they are invited to join us for midweek class on Wednesday nights from 6:00-7:00pm. Parents are invited to stay for a Bible Study that is geared for you! The first parent Bible Study is called: “Parental Guidance Required.” If you have little ones that are kindergarten and younger, we are working to secure babysitting again like we did last year. We’ll start in the sanctuary at 6:00 pm by singing the doxology together, a short time to focus our attention on God, and then dismiss to our classes. Hope to see you there!

Peaches Delivery and Pick-Up
We are currently planning for the peaches to be here on
Thursday, August 29th. If you are able to help with the
unloading process into the Fellowship Hall, we would
greatly appreciate it. Pick-up will be Friday August 30th
from 8am-7pm and Saturday, August 31st from 8am-1pm.
If you have a hand truck and/or are willing to help haul
boxes to vehicles (especially on Friday while the youth are
in school and can’t be here), we could use your help.
Spread the word that we still have boxes of peaches
available.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 15th, 2019 for the annual Camp Luther Golf Tournament at North Bend Golf Course, North Bend NE. The benefit tournament is an 18-hole, 4 person scramble, with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. followed by supper. We are looking for both teams and sponsors to help us have a successful fundraiser. If you are interested in team registration or sponsorship.
The Schlund Family - Our Missionaries
Lord of Life provides prayer and financial support for Rev. Andrew and Kelsey Schlund, who serve the Lord through The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) as career missionaries in Mexico. In his role, Andrew works with other missionaries in the theological education of existing pastors and possible future pastors. He also preaches and teaches whenever needed. Through the relationships that are formed, Andrew and Kelsey seek to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the people of Mexico. Andrew and Kelsey
have two daughters, Charlotte and Margaret. Please pray for the Schlunds as they serve in Mexico. Pray for all the missionaries and their families in the Latin America region, for the members of El Buen Pastor and San Pedro in their work to spread the Gospel, and for the Schlund family as they continue to adjust to life in Mexico City. • Birthdays: Andrew–Oct. 21, Kelsey–Aug.16, Charlotte–March 28, Margaret-May 2 • Anniversary: June 17

Save your Family Fare receipts! We’re raising money for
Lord’s Lambs Child Care through Direct Your Dollars! Save your receipts every time you shop at Family Fare – and please
encourage your friends and family to do the same. Once we’ve
collected $150,000 in receipts, we can turn those slips of paper into a
$1,000 check for Lord’s Lambs! Collection boxes are in the church
entry and at Lord’s Lambs Registration Desk. Please note: only original receipts are accepted.
Start saving your Our Family® UPC barcodes! We’re raising money for the permanent sign fund through the
Direct Your Labels™ program made possible by SpartanNash.
Through the Direct Your Labels program, we can raise money simply
by doing something we all do each week – going to the grocery store.
Our local store is Family Fare, just down 204th at Pacific.
Every time you shop at any local store carrying Our Family brand
products, clip and save your UPC barcodes – and encourage your
friends and family to do the same. Every time we collect 500 UPC
barcodes, we can turn them into a $25 check! And with your support
and more than 2,000 Our Family brand products available to purchase, there’s no limit to the amount of
labels we can collect as we work toward our goal of new permanent signage!
We’ll be collecting product labels in our Direct Your Labels container in the lobby, along with the
Direct Your Dollars register receipts. As with the first program, please make sure you drop off the
original UPC barcodes – that’s how we earn our $25 rewards.
Women's Monday Night Bible Study
The Breathe Study Journal includes 5 sessions of teaching by Priscilla Shirer with 4 weeks of homework
in a reflective, journaling format. One of the greatest challenges among women in our culture is taking time to
stop and cease from all the activities and busyness and just breathe. We are in bondage to busyness. We
constantly strive to complete the limitless to-do lists that hinder us from experiencing all that God has for us.
We miss the moments because we rush ahead to the next thing. By neglecting time for tranquility, serenity,
and repose, we limit our Christlikeness and miss out on some of God's greatest gifts. It is time for us to breathe
and build margin into our lives for God. In the Old Testament, God instituted principles and laws that would
transform the Israelites' mindset. He didn't just want them legally free; He wanted them to be able to walk in
the freedom and enjoy it. So God gave them many gifts, including boundaries in which to enjoy those gifts.
Sabbath was intended as a gift, and it is still a gift to us today. If you are weary, worn out, and exhausted the
concept of Sabbath will change your life.
This study begins September 9th, and will meet the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 7
p.m. in room 112. Contact Monique Rasmussen if you have any questions. A sign-up sheet is
on the Information Board in the Commons.
