How do you tend to see holiness in your life (as something you have or something you must achieve)? Explain. 6. What would change for you if you saw holiness as something you have instead of a quality to achieve? 7. Key Idea: Grace is given to cure our condition.

Cured by Grace1. Grace is give to uproot pride (Ephesians 2:8-9).2. Grace implants a new life for good works (Ephesians 2:10).3. Grace empowers us to maintain love and unity (cf. Ephesians 2:11-22; 3:17-19; 4:1-3, 12-13, 15-16, 23-24, 29, 32; 5:1-2).

Ephesians:ReclaimingtheMysteryWeek5:Ephesians3:1-12

SERMONNOTES Mystery Not Known1. The Greek word means “something awaiting

disclosure or interpretation.”2. The Mystery: God’s plan has always been to

save and unite humanity in Jesus.3. The reason this was a mystery was because

the Jews could not see what God revealed (cf. Hosea 2:23).

Mystery Made Known1. Revealed, not discovered (3:3-5)2. “Fellow heirs” — We have a new family (Eph.

1:5, 11-14; 3:6; cf. Gal. 3:28-29; 4:7).

3. “Members of the same body” — Division is overcome by the cross (2:16; 3:6; Col 1:20)

4. “Partakers of the promise” — Everyone has equal access to life and salvation (2:12; 2 Tim. 1:1; Heb. 11:9)

Make Known the Mystery1. God made known for us to make known.

2. We clarify by sharing and showing the gospel to others.

3. Will you chose to clarify or confuse the mystery of the gospel?
