Lieutenant Governor marks National Film Board’s 75th anniversary

Toronto, June 25, 2014. The Hon. David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, will today pay tribute to the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) during a reception at the Lieutenant Governor’s Suite. Honoured guest include Claude Joli-Coeur, Acting Government Film Commissioner and Chairperson for the NFB, Anita Lee, Executive producer for the NFB’s Ontario Centre, Katerina Cizek, director of the NFB multi-media project Highrise, as well as many other notable filmmakers, producers and artists. Founded by documentary film pioneer John Grierson, the National Film Board of Canada is a world-renowned cultural institution that has nurtured and supported excellence in Canadian cinematic talent. Board filmmakers have won countless national and international awards, including 12 Oscars. Its remains a vital cultural institution, evolving with new media and film technology to create exciting and significant work.
