you can use your current user nameand registration number at the NHBoard of Nursing licensure site

Fees and temporary license Go to our website and follow the step-by-step
instructions found in theApplications and
Formssection of the website. Remember to complete a criminal
backgroundcheck as instructed during theapplication process.
Note: The Criminal Background results arevalid for 120 daysmake sure you time thisso that you dont have to do this more thanonce!

Criminal Background Checks
(CBCs) Remember to have the form notarized
and send the fees
Allow 7-10 days for the board to receivethe CBC from the NH State Police
Obtain FBI finger print cards from the
NH BON and follow the instructionslisted on the home page of the boardwebsite www.state.nh.us/nursing

Application procedure Official School Transcript must confirm your
graduation date. The NH BON must receive a
sealed copy of your transcript. Always keep a copy of your transcript in your
personal filesyou never know when you willneed a copy!

Completed nurse licensure
application Make sure you have sent the application (fully
completed), your transcript, Criminal
Background Check, application fees.
Upon receipt of these documents, the NH
Board of Nursing will notify the testing center.Remember to register with the testing centeras instructed on the step-by-step instructionsfrom the board.

Authorization to Test (ATT) You will receive this ATT from PearsonDO
NOT LOSE THIS YOU MUST BRING THIS TO
THE EXAM
You can schedule your exam (anywhere, any
state). The testing service must guarantee ascheduled date within 30 days of yourrequest. (If you refuse the date, they canbump you to a later date).

The NCLEX You are scheduled for 5 hours-- so take your
time. Most people average 1.5-2.0 hours to
complete. TAKE YOUR TIME Come to the test well rested, schedule a time
that is best for you!
When you schedule, have an idea of your
availability ahead of time-the scheduler willdump you out after 10 minutes.

Licensure testing in an other
state?Google or go to NCSBN.org to find the
state you wish to take the NCLEX
Contact your desired state and askthem for the testing and licensurerequirements of that state.

The day of the NCLEX Be on time. If you have problems, you can
be up to 30 minutes late. If longer, call them.
Have your current drivers license with youeven if someone is driving you. You will need2 current forms ofID with you with one ofthem being a picture ID.
Dont bring books, large decorative pins,large barrettes for your hair. All items mustbe placed in lockers and cannot accompanyyou into the testing room.

Notes for the exam They will give you a white board to
write on. You can write notes you thinkyou will need on the white board butrememberif you ask for anotherboard, you will lose the notes (you must
turn in board #1) if you ask for anotherwhite board. You cannot erase board#1.

The test The least amount of question is 85--most
amount of questions is 200.
The test is individualized for each student You cannot go back to a questionYou are
asked if this is your final answer before youproceed to the next question.
The screen will shut offgo black when youhave finished. You will think there has been apower failurebut that is what happens!

If working under a temporary
licenseAs a graduate nurse working with a
temporary license (before taking the
NCLEX), you must sign your name withGN for Registered Nurse program andGPN for Practical Nurse program. Youmust work under the supervision of the
RN. Check the board website for thestipulations of nurse supervision for thegraduate nurse.

Temporary Licensure once
NCLEX results are available If you pass the NCLEX- your license is
activated on the verification website
If you fail the NCLEX, your temporarylicense immediately goes away
regardless of the 120 days.

What ifI fail the NCLEX?You can reapply in 45 days following
the instructions provided by Pearson-Vue.
(You will need to repay all of the testing
and licensure fees.)
