PRESIDENT:

Johanna Torres is running for the position of President for the 2015-2016 school year. She served as President for the 2014-2015 school year. Prior to her role as Vice-President, she chaired the Fastnacht sale, Gertrude Hawk Easter candy fundraiser, and brought the Gertrude Hawk candy bar sale to the organization. In the Nitschmann Band & Orchestra parent club, Johanna served as the food chairperson, managed the student quota accounts, and was instrumental in creating a process for parents to track student accounts online. Johanna also was the awards coordinator for Boy Scouts for several years. Johanna specializes in government programs and compliance at B. Braun Medical where she has worked in several capacities for 15 years. She is the former compliance officer for the B. Braun Federal Credit Union. She serves in several capacities at First Presbyterian Church - her favorites being youth leader to middle school girls as well as high school mentor.

VICE-PRESIDENT:

Carol Lenig is running for the position of Vice President for the 2015-2016 school year and is an alumnus of LHS. She has volunteered with many youth sporting organizations. TREASURER:

Kim Destremps is running for the position of Treasurer for the 2015-2016 school year. She

has successfully held the position of Treasurer for the LHSGBOPC for the 2014-2015

school year. Along with other board members, she has helped create the “BandStand” and

merchandising as means of fund raising and promoting a positive and enthusiastic image

for the organization. Additionally, she assisted the board in filing the 501c3 application to

allow the LHSGBOPC to assume the status of a non-profit organization. She brings past

experience as a volunteer with many youth sporting organizations and the LHS Football

Booster Club. Kim has coordinated and assisted fundraisers, chaperoned, and

volunteered in many other capacities within the Parent Club during the past 3 years. She

has been with her current employer for nearly 30 years; currently working in the

Information Technology Department. One of her responsibilities includes daily

reconciliation of financial transactions and auditors quarterly to review the financial

transactions of her company. Kim’s goal is to help foster a positive and rewarding

experience for all band and orchestra members and parents by contributing her skills,

knowledge and time.

ASSISTANT TREASURER:

Cynthia Rommens is running for the position of Assistant Treasurer for the 2015-2016

school year and has been serving as a volunteer in the school district in various capacities

for the past nine years. Some of the positions that she held included Asa Packer PTA

Treasuer (four years), Membership Coordinator (one year) and 2nd

Vice-President

responsible for volunteers (two years). She is responsible for the student quotas and email

blasts for the NB&OPC (three years), and she maintained the student information for

LHSGB&OPC for one year. Cynthia currently works as the Academic Secretary/Audition

Coordinator for the Music Department at Moravian College. In this position, she has

extensive experience working with a database. She feels that her work, volunteer

experience and daily life coordinating the very active schedules of four daughters (two

LHSGB&OPC & two NB&OPC) all demonstrate the skills necessary to be the Assistant

Treasurer of the LHSGB&OPC.

SECRETARY:

Lora Alvarez is running for the position of Secretary for the 2015-2016 school year. She has been the away football game/parade chaperone coordinator for the past 2 years, helped at the band concerts and other various jobs needed throughout her years with the organization. Lora has been involved with LHSGB since 2007 with her oldest child Cory, graduating in 2011. Lora currently has a daughter, Victoria in 6th grade at Nitschmann, who is in band and is looking forward to becoming a Grenadier. Lora also was a merit badge counselor for Devon's current Boy Scout troop. Lora also helped in various ways at Calypso Elementary during their various celebrations, helped in the library, and chaperoned on many field trips. She feels that being involved with the organization for so many years gives her the skills and knowledge on maintaining the band's reputation and to help it grow in the many years to come.

FUNDRAISING INFORMATION

Monthly Hoagie Sales

New Dates for the May Sale!! Hoagies are a long-standing fundraising tradition for the Grenadier Band and Orchestra. This sale provides a frequent and regular source of income for both the individual student and the organization as a whole. Each hoagie sells for $3.50—of that, $1.50 goes directly into the student’s quota, and a variable portion goes into the general fund. Four varieties are offered: Regular with and without onions, and Turkey with and without onions. Regular hoagies contain ham, bologna, salami and American cheese; Turkey hoagies contain turkey breast and American cheese. All types come with a separate baggie of lettuce and tomato (these hoagies do not get soggy! A great selling point!) and an Italian dressing packet.

It is extremely important to place your order on the dates listed below so that enough supplies are ordered. It is preferred to order online from the LHSGB&OPC website. We begin making hoagies at 6:30 AM on the 2nd Saturday of every month in the Liberty cafeteria. All students who participate in the sale MUST help make hoagies and MUST have an adult partner. If there is a scheduling problem, a substitute must be found. Any questions, email [email protected].
