SUMMARY OF EVENTS & VENUESMonday, November 8th: Moda in the City, Media Red Carpet ReceptionVenue: Hotel SAX- Crimson Lounge, 333 N. Dearborn St., Chicago IL. 6-9pmThis year’s theme of “IMPACTO” represents the impact Latinos have made in fashion and will continue to make in the generations to come. Latino Fashion Week (LFW) launches its media opening night by featuring a Celebrity Walk and the outstanding designs of Chicago’s top Latino designers. This event is by invitation only.

Tuesday, November 9th: Fashion! Music! Cinema!Venue: AMC Pipers Alley, 1608 N. Wells St., Chicago, IL. 6pm, Film starts at 7pm. Post Movie Reception at Suite Lounge, 1446 N. Wells St., Chicago, IL. Get red carpet ready for the Chicago Premiere of Celia the Queen, a documentary about the life and legacy of the stellar performer who brought the sound of salsa to the world.

Wednesday, November 10th: Fashion Forward to 2060- The Student Designers CompetitionVenue: Chicago Center for the Performing Arts, 777 N. Green St. Chicago, IL. 6pm, Competition begins at 7pm. Following our movie night is the Student Designers Competition, featuring some of the top Chicago Schools of Design. The focus will be the Students’ vision of what clothing will be like in the year 2060.

Thursday, November 11th: Latino’s Teen DayVenue: Ford City Mall, 7601 S. Cicero Ave., Burbank, IL. Workshop at 3:30pm, Show at 4:30pmBack by popular demand, this event will promote a healthy lifestyle and improved self-esteem featuring an AWSUM (Amazing-Wonderful-Super-Unique-Me) Workshop with some youth-oriented motivational speakers. There will be a special performance by Two-time Grammy Award winning singer, actor, songwriter Colby O’Donis. Cesar Corales, as seen in Billy Elliot, the musical, will be performing, and a special run-way appearance by America’s Next Top Model winner, Jaslene Gonzalez.

Friday, November 12th: STRUCTUREVenue: Circuit Night Club, 3641 N. Halsted St., Chicago, IL. Doors open at 6pm, Show at 8pmFashion for Men and Women, local and international designers give you a glimpse of their Spring line. A portion of the proceeds shall be donated to The Center on Halsted.

Saturday, November 13th: A Passport to Design, Fashion Ball Venue: Mercedes-Benz – North Ave., 1520 W. North Ave., Chicago, IL. Awards Reception at 6pm, Show at 8pmOur biggest night of the week takes place at Mercedes-Benz Chicago. Booths will host mini makeover specials, product demonstrations and workshops at the Fashion Sense, Pop-up Stores. Special discounts and treats at selectedOldTownboutiquesandretailersduringanOldTown“fashioncrawl.”THETWISTEDBAKERwillsupplyLFWwithpastriesforthemorning of that Saturday, from 10 – 11 AM.

Monday, November 15th: Boutique Trade ShowVenue: Trattoria Roma Restaurant, 1535 N. Wells St. Chicago, IL. 10am – 12 Noon. Similar to “speed-dating”, this fun event is the perfect opportunity for designers to meet local boutique owners for a one-to-one, 8 to 10 minute meet and greet in an intimate and casual setting.

Fourth Annual Latino Fashion WeekFACT SHEET

Latino Fashion Week is proud to present its fourth annual production of the only week-long event in the United States completely dedicated to Latino fashion. Latino designers from around the globe will be showcasing their creations during the unparalleled seven-day celebration that is full of events, fashion and glamour.

EVENT LINE-UP

Monday’s Moda in the City is dedicated to emphasizing the impact Latinos have made in fashion by showcasing Chicago’s top Latino designers’ most outstanding creations.

Tuesday boasts a documentary tribute to the Queen of Salsa herself, Celia Cruz. Celebrate the life of a performer who brought the sounds of salsa to the whole world at AMC Pipers Alley.

Students display their most Fashion Forward to 2060 designs for Wednesday’s futuristic Student Designer Competition at the Chicago Center for the Performing Arts.

Teen Day will be a star studded event featuring not only guest performances and Top Model appearances but youth oriented motivational speakers as well.

Structure is back by popular demand, promoting fashions for men and women. Catch a glimpse of local and international designers’ spring lines on Friday night at Circuit Night Club.

Saturday night’s Fashion Ball is a must-see runway event featuring an awards ceremony and the designs of internationally acclaimed designers. A Passport to Design will be held in Mercedes-Benz Chicago and is sure to astound.

Enjoy a pre-holiday shopping extravaganza at Sunday’s Fashion Sense. The event boasts a wide array of premier clothing, accessories, makeup and makeover specials for all price ranges in Pipers Alley Atrium.

Jaer Cabán

PuertoRicanfashiondesigner,JaerCabán,presentlyteachesfashiondesignattheTuraboUniversity.He has dressed celebrities like Daddy Yankee and created choreography costumes for Luis Fonsi, Nelly Furtado,Pitbull,WisinandYandel,OlgaTañónandPaulinaRubio,amongothers.Amonghismostrecent recognitions are the awards for Best Collection, for his presentation “Inertia” in September 2010 atthePuertoRicoHighFashionWeek.

Carlos Campos

Carlos Campos grew up in a tailoring and design household which later inspired him to study fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He has helped create costumes for many acclaimed plays including“TheInventionofLove”,“TheGraduate”,“TheLightinthePiazza”,“FiddlerontheRoof”,and“The Jersey Boys”.

James De Colon

Chicago-based couturier James De Colón is a native New Yorker with strong ties to his homeland San Juan,PuertoRico.DeColónandpartner,CreativeDirector-WayneReddrick,havebeenanintegralpart of the Chicago fashion community for the last ten years. They have operated two successful boutiques in the inner city; and are now in preparation to launch the online boutique, DE COLÓN.

John Dunn

John Dunn is Owner and Design Director of John Dunn LTD, an atelier specializing in women’s bespoke evening and bridal clothing. There, he divides his time between New York and San Juan, PuertoRico,workingwithprivateclients.Previously,JohnwasadesigneratVeraWangNewYorkaftergraduating from the Parsons School of Design.

Angelica Santoyo

AngelicaSantoyograduatedfromColombiaCollegein2002afterdreamingofacareerinfashionsincethetenderageoffive.ShedebutedtheAngelEyesDesigns’collectioninMarchof2009,sparkingahigh demand for the featured clothing within the Chicagoland area. The simplistic style of her designs istailoredtothosewhoyearntofeelconfidentwhilestandingoutinacrowd.

Julius LaCour Jr.

JuliusLaCour,Jr.wasborninNewOrleans,LAin1985.AfterhegraduatedfromtheIllinoisInstituteofArt-Chicago, he created Maison de LaCour to express individualism. Today, Julius is still taking Maison deLaCourtothetopofthefashionworldputtingcouturetechniquesandfinishingintoeachgarmenthe creates.

Hector-Javier MonArrez

Hector-Javier MonArrez was born in Durango, Mexico where he specialized in bridal, leather construction,andcorsetry.Afterreceivingadegreeinfashiondesign,uponhisarrivaltoChicago,Hector quickly flourished and won many awards. Since graduating he has created his own brand THE-MONÁ, and has been displaying his work in various runway shows.

Lazaro Perez

LazaroPerezisknownforhisimpeccablefitandglamorouscollectionsfeaturingexquisitebeadingandembroidery with dramatic silhouettes. With over twenty years of design experience, Lazaro is regarded as one of the industry’s premier bridal designers. Lazaro frequently appears on TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress” in New York and Atlanta, and WEtv’s “Girl Meets Gown”. His designs have been featured on The Today Show, Good Day L.A., American Latino TV, and Fox Business’s “Happy Hour”.

Magaly Triburcio

Magaly Triburcio completed her studies when she decided to go against her mother’s will and follow her passion, the art of fashion. Using word of mouth, Magaly quickly became one of the most recognizedfashiondesignersintheDomincanRepublic.Currently,sheboastsalargeclienteleandevout team to help bring her art to life.

Claudia Urrutia

Mexican born Claudia Urrutia graduated with Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from The International AcademyofDesign&Technologyin2007.HerDesignswerechosentobeatthe2007AnnualSchoolFashion Show held at Union Station Hall. She has been featured in publications like Ultimas Noticias, LaRaza&NewspaperHoy.
