Please note that the picture quality of the encoded video depends largely on the motion and detail level of the video content. Review your application with one of our sales consultants in order to assess the suitability of packing more than six standard definition video programs into a single 19-Mbit ATSC multiplex.

MULTI-STREAM DOLBY® AUDIO ENCODER

• Receive Audio via Embedded SDI, AES/PCM or Analog Audio with NTSC or with SDI video

• Analog audio digitizer: 24 bits at 48kHz

• Audio encoding formats: Dolby Digital

• Audio encoding capacity: 8 stereo programs

• Audio pass-through capacity: 16 programs (total)

• Audio pass-through formats: Dolby 5.1, Dolby Digital

STATISTICAL ATSC MULTIPLEXER

• Adaptive bandwidth allocation adjusts video encoder rate controls to optimize use of 19.4Mbit ASI stream

• Select ATSC multiplex programs from audio and video streams, paired as received by encoder

• Select additional audio programs from encoded or pass-through audio streams

• Dual ASI outputs

• Passes both CEA-708 and EIA-608 captions embedded within video streams received

DYNAMIC PSIP

Dynamic PSIP is supported using any of the following methods:

• Use the EZ-PSIP software to manually update program guide data

• Use an external PSIP generator, such as GuideBuilder from Triveni or PSIP Pro from DTV Innovations

• Use the GN Option to ingest program guide data directly from Tribune Media or BIM / TitanTV and generate the PSIP data internally

• Use the GN Option to ingest XML-format program guide files directly from a traffic management system, such as Wide Orbit or Myers ProTrack

INTEGRATED EAS CUT-OVER SWITCH

Maps emergency program audio and video to primary channels upon detection of EAS alert tones or receiving command from external EAS receiver using a dry contact closure.

LEX2000 SYSTEM MANAGEMENT

• Embedded web pages allow interactive configuration of the LEX2000 settings

• DVI port (HDMI via adapter cable) for real time monitoring of active programs during operation

• Firmware updates and upgrades provided through a local network connection or on a physical memory card, inserted in the SD CARD socket on the rear panel

Optional FeaturesWe offer a host of optional features that provide unique functionality and unparalleled flexibility. Optional features are enabled by the license file and firmware installed in each unit. Factory options are installed on the LEX2000™ before shipment. Field upgrades allow you to increase capacity or add new features to existing units already operating in the field. Most optional features only need a new license file and/or firmware, but some features may require factory installation of additional hardware.

PROGRAM GUIDE INGEST (GN OPTION)

Program Guide Ingest enables the LEX2000™ to upload native format program guide files from Tribune Media or BIM / TitanTV and to automatically generate the dynamic PSIP tables for the output multiplex. LEX2000™ units with the GN option may also ingest PMCP format XML program guide files, generated by a broadcaster’s traffic management system.

STREAMING GIGABIT NETWORK (TG OPTION)

The Streaming Gigabit Network option provides an additional Gigabit Ethernet interface on the LEX2000™ unit that enables the unit to send its ATSC transport stream to a specific network IP address, using UDP or RTP, allowing remote viewing and monitoring of the multiplexer output. The ASI-over-IP data stream may include Forward Error Correction using the FEC Option.

FORWARD ERROR CORRECTION (FEC OPTION)

The SMPTE-2022-1 (Pro-MPEG) Forward Error Correction option adds a layer of protection against packet loss and data corruption to an IP output stream, produced by a LEX2000™ unit with the TG option. While the use of FEC does not guarantee zero packet loss, it dramatically improves performance when transmitting a point-to-point IP stream over the public internet or a network prone to packet loss or high bit error rates.

CEA-608 TO 708 CAPTION CONVERTER (67 OPTION)

The 608 to 708 Closed Caption Converter allows the LEX2000™ to generate 708 captions for program material that contains only 608 captions, including standard definition video programs. Closed caption content is extracted from the 608 caption data and used to synthesize CEA-708 captions. 708 caption display parameters are controlled by user configuration settings and may be set independently for each virtual channel. 608 caption data is also passed to the output program multiplex, along with any 708 caption data present in the input video program.

ASI RE-MULTIPLEXER (RX OPTION)

The ASI Remux allows the LEX2000™ to combine local program content with programs received from an incoming ASI stream to create a new ATSC multiplex output. The ASI Remux picks selected program data streams from the ASI input stream and sends them to the output multiplexer, which combines them with local audio and video programs. PID values for ASI input programs are reassigned as needed for local broadcast.
