It is the core of the blogging feature of Word Press but can be used for other purposes too
Each post has the same structure as a web page including a page title, header and body.

This is the free cloud hosted version of wordpress
Cloud Hosting means that you access your dashboard (Word Press control panel) from any p.c.
Your site will be live and will include a .wordpress.com domain extension
It is possible to buy a cheap .com domain and map it to your wordpress account.
Dashboard
The Dashboard is the most important area of WordPress, this is the section that allows us to build and maintain your site

The menu on the left can expand or collapse to show more or fewer options per category
We will go through each of the options on the dashboard explaining their function Dashboard
Allows you to access additional blogs if you are hosting multiple blogs on your username account

As mentioned before a post is an article or blog entry that will be added to your blog page and archived for search
BBC and RTE essentially use a similar concept to manage news articles on their websites
All new sites have a default entry called “Hello World”, you can delete or edit this entry

You can add or manage categories in order to group your posts and make them easier to find and finally you can post tags

Media
You can upload media files including video, images and audio etc to your library via the media panel
Click Add New under the library to add items
You will be able to view or remove items from this panel too
Links
You can view all external hyperlinks in your website at a glance and modify them centrally through the links option

We will look at pages in detail later
This link allows you to view your current pages and also to add new
Along with Posts this is a very important area for you
Comments and Feedback
By default comments are enable on every page and post in your website
You can view comments and feedback by clicking on these options

Export You can backup your existing site by exporting the

You can import this file to another wordpress.com blog or even a self hosted wordpress.org site
