Early Childhood Bible Study: God Knows My Name Opening Prayer: Dear God in heaven, thank you for loving us. Thank you for loving us all the same. We belong to you. Help us remember that. Help us be kind to others. Help us show love to others. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. Message following Classroom Activity: Did you know God knew your name before you were even born? Yes, God made you and he has always known your name. God knew your name before you were born, he knew it when you were a tiny baby and he knows your name right now. Let’s say it together three times. “God knows my name!” “God knows my name!” “God knows my name!” Not only does God know your name, but you belong to him. God wants you to be in his family here on earth and God wants you to live in heaven with him some day, too. The Bible even says God loves children. The Bible says, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t keep them away. The kingdom of heaven belongs to people like them.” (Matthew 19:14 NIrV) See, God says, “Yes! You belong to me!” Do you think mommies are called to belong to God? Do you think daddies are called to belong to God? Do you think brothers and sisters are called to belong to God? Do you think your neighbors are called to belong to God? Yes, we all are called to belong to God. Do you think people who use a wheelchair are called to belong to God? Do you think people who are good swimmers are called to belong to God? Do you think people who wear glasses or are blind are called to belong to God? Do you think people who can’t hear are called to belong to God? Yes, we all are called to belong to God. Let’s pray together as a family of God. Closing Prayer: Dear God, thank you for wanting us to belong to you. We are happy to be in your family. Thank you for the Bible that tells us we belong. Help us remember that everyone is called to belong to you. Help us love others. Help us tell others about you. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. Lesson Truth: God calls us by name; we belong to him. Before Sunday school starts at my church, all of the kids pray and sing together.

This is my favorite part of the day.
