The Israelites turned to worshiping idols because those around them were doing so. We must never do things that are wrong just because others are. While the Israelites obeyed God, they had peace and rest. As soon as they began to forget God, trouble came. The Israelites made the same mistake over and over. Whenever they repented, God forgave them and delivered them because He is such a loving God and wants what’s best for His children. We should learn from our mistakes, but realize God’s mercy and love for us when we do make mistakes.
