Baptism comes from the Greek word BAPTIZO which means to dip, immerse or whelm, that is to cover WHOLLY with fluid or to dye a garment.

In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus COMMANDED us to make disciples of all nations by baptizing them in the name of the FATHER and of the SON and of the HOLY SPIRIT.

It signified the responsibility to faithfully serve God as a holy people in the midst of a pagan world.

It is the CIRCUMCISION of the heart, a cutting away of SIN and a change of HEART. What is buried by faith in baptism is dead and POWERLESS to control our lives any longer.
